It was really good to see this project as it encompasses all the values of saving wildlife and educating people about treating animals correctly. The guide was very informative and answered all our questions! As a nutritionist I was particularly interested in learning about the diets they provide. The enclosures were big which was good to see. My favourite experience was seeing sloths close up as they're normally at the top of a tree!!My two daughters (12 and 14 yr old) and I did the volunteer day and it was big hit. My two daughters (12 and 14 yr old) and I did the volunteer day and it was big hit. We had a chance to do the regular visit in the morning, then after the other groups left we helped prepare the daily medicine for the rescued animals that are permanent residents. We then had a break for lunch, which was one of the best meals we had during our whole trip, and after lunch we helped prepare the food and feed the animals. We had a chance to see the animals up close, get into their enclosure to feed some of them. My kids loved it and I did as well. I am happy to contribute to this great cause and we got a lot in return. The person who hosted our visit, José, was wonderful with the kids and very knowledgeable. We had a great time, totally worth it!A wonderful experience. A great way to learn about some of the beautiful animals and birds of Costa Rica and their stories. Volunteer for a day and give back. You will not regret this experience.

happened up KSTR on a Tuesday that Manual Antonio was not open.KSTR was an unexpected gem and my wife & 13 year old loved it Jose and Luis are informative guides and know the history of every animal there for rehab ( hopefully to heal and be released back into the wild).I have been to Manual Antonio many times and you are not guaranteed to see any animals ( rare) but this KSTR is special for their focus. You can also view many wild animals on the property such as monkeys and macaws as the caged area is set in the rainforest.Such an important role KSTR serve and it is heartbreaking when an animal is injured, especially if caused by man ( power line electrocutions etc.)The price of admission goes to a great cause!Really positive project. Really positive project. Here with my husband and 9 year old son as volunteers for the day; a great way for kids and adults to experience the importance of conservation, hands on! Our guide was Luis- very knowledgable and friendly. Jose was animal food coordination lead. He was brilliant with the animals and the food logistics. Everyone was super friendly from reception staff to other volunteers, all made us feel so welcome. We only came for the day but this place is worth more time. Beautiful, peaceful setting and gorgeous food too! My only regret is that we are not stay for a week, at least, to really commit to this amazing haven.
