What to expect

Itinerary

The day starts with being picked up by our guide from one of several designated locations in Stavanger. The drive takes 2h and 30 minutes, passing by scenic landscape along the way. After the long drive, we arrive at the start of the trail (where restrooms are available). Here the guide will provide information about the trail, expected conditions, and useful tips for good hiking. When everyone is ready, the hike begins. The pace allows for time to adjust clothes and equipment, time to rest and enjoy snacks, and for taking pictures along the way.

After approximately 3 hours of hiking, we will arrive at Kjeragbolten, the Kjerag Boulder. For those who dare (if conditions allow), one can stand atop the Boulder, which hangs a heart-stopping 984 meters above the fjord. Note that during the pre-season (May), there may be so much snow that standing on the Boulder itself is not safe.

After we have enjoyed the scenery, relaxed, and enjoyed a quick lunch, we head back down. It normally takes about 3 hours to get back down to the parking area. Exhausted but satisfied, we get back in the car. As we get driven back to Stavanger, we process our experience of a day well spent.

Erland is an amazing guide with lots of experience. He knows the way very well and shortcuts. It is my first time hiking, and Erland and his team prepared hiking shoes and alpenstock, it feels super safe with him. That's super helpful for me. It was an unforgettable trip and a wonderful day. I had the most amazing hike with Erlend as my guide. He has been guiding since 2016 so he knows the best path to get up and down the mountain. He is so friendly and knowledgeable. Not only was the experience memorable, he also knows the best places to take photos and managed to get some shots of ...
