Highly recommended.Everything about this experience was perfect and we absolutely loved Ronny and his family. It was one of the highlights of our Peru trip. Everything about this experience was perfect and we absolutely loved Ronny and his family. It was one of the highlights of our Peru trip. There are often mixed reviews about Lake Titicaca experiences- I would be at a loss as to how this experience wouldn't leave lasting impression on the hearts of those who experienced it. Part of what I believe set this homestay a part, was that we stayed right on a small reed island, with one family. No other families and no groups of other tourists or large islands with stores or restaurants, etc. Just the 8 of us on this very small reed island. Also, because we kayaked in, rather than taking a boat. That was really fun and so nice to do it in a way that many others miss out on. We were submerged in the culture of this family and greeted with smiles and joy. They were so sweet and kind. There were 8 of us and we all felt the same way. It was basic yes, but that is exactly what we wanted. We weren't looking for or expecting fluff. We wanted an authentic experience and thats what we got. Our lodging was simple, but very clean and great views. The hot water bottles at night in bed were a great addition and we all stayed toasty warm despite the outside temperatures. We loved dancing and laughing by the fire and the local Peruvian musicians that came and played for us. Though not required we of course tipped them generously and it was worth every penny. They were so talented. I think people forget that these families work hard and live life in a way that most of us could never handle. So yes, they want us to see that and experience it. I don't think it's an act. At least not without family we chose. This is the way they live life day in and day out and we got to take part in that and we will forever hold that in our hearts. We were looking to sleep on the uros island and we found Ronny, who organized the kayak tour for us plus sleeping on the Uros islands, the attention of our host Ronald was very friendly and the rooms were clean, and we practiced their daily customs together with them, recommended For people who w...

Getting to meet the family on the island gave a great view of what life is like there and showed their history and culture.

We did a homestay with local family. Pickup was 10am from your hotel and you were driven then boated to their family island and back the next day by 10am. There were an activities during the day (fishing, boat tour, reed cutting, trying on traditional clothing, explanation on how islands are built and the history of the area). It was cold at night (probably around 2-3 C), but the cabins you are provided with and the layers and layers of blankets keep you warm. There is an opportunity to buy handicrafts from Rocio and her family, but we never felt pressure to buy anything. It was nice to discuss how the products and made and learn the personal stories that go into each item. The food was also excellent! For those who want to live an authentic experience on the floating islands of Lake Titicaca, this is it. 10000% recommended
