Kanazawa is not like Tokyo. Many restaurants don’t offer English menus, or English speaking staff. We were so lost on our own. Toshi (Tony), our tour guide, Is so knowledgeable in history, geography and culture! We learned so much about the city and the country. It was raining and cold, but Toshi was very patient. He gave us recommendations where to eat and shop, and went to the train station with us to check our train tickets to Kyoto! We didn’t know the tickets were sold out mostly. We would have been stuck in Kanazawa without Toshi! Really appreciate his help! We are well fed too because of him!!! For non Japanese speaking tourists, you definitely need a local tour guide! Toshi is well traveled internationally. He understands western cultures!Nozomi’s enthusiasm, expertise, and graciousness made our day in Kanazawa one of our favourites.
