He took us to three different Izakayas where we had yakitori, gyoza, chawa pork, edamame, karaage, and finally hand-made soba noodles. The soba shop was something we would have never found on our own. The atmosphere and food were excellent. We ended the night at a local pub where the plum liqueur was excellent. We were the only people (3) on this tour - so we got lots of information and had a really lovely time. Masa was an excellent and flexible guide and took us to classic not-fancy places popular with locals that we wouldn't have found on our own--for example, a fun bar with a mad collection of clocks, and a little neighborhood joint with grilled chicken parts (please let him know if you have food phobias or allergies, he will be sure to accommodate),Truly wonderful experience, it was so easy to just follow and learn about Masa rather than stress over finding just the right thing. We did this experience to celebrate my husband’s birthday and it was perfect

We're seasoned travellers, living in Tokyo these days, took a get away but we're also stressed. Our japanese gets us around but it's not great and planning food for the first night just felt overwhelming along with travelling and doing everything that day. Also it was my partner's birthday so I knew I wanted it to definitely be good not just throw a dart and hope. We had such a great time, our guide is local, knowledgeable, friends with the proprietors everywhere we went, we found great corners both historical and delightful, all of the flavors were amazing, fresh, and local. Do yourself a favor and have a great night!
