THE ART OF CONSERVATION
In 2009 a monumental underwater contemporary museum of art called MUSA (Museo Subacuático de Arte) was formed in the waters surrounding Cancun, Isla Mujeres and Punta Nizuc.
The Museum aims to demonstrate the interaction between art and environmental science and form part of a complex reef structure for marine life to colonize and inhabit whilst increasing biomass on a grand scale. All of the sculptures are fixed to the seabed and made from specialized materials used to promote coral life. The total installations occupy an area of over 420sq meters of barren substrate and weighing in at over 200 tons.

Andres and his crew are so wonderful, they are extremely professional and friendly all at the same time. I did three days of diving with the Squalo Team and loved it all. The briefing before the dives are very informative, you know exactly what to expect, while in the water the dive team are constantly checking in with you and attentive to whatever your needs are. At one point my weight belt came off and Dani was right there behind me to grab it and help me put it back on. I have been diving with them for about 5 years now and keep returning. If you want to dive on the island this team is the best, you will not be let down.Three days of diving with friends with these folks. I am a new diver and so only dove two times, but they were magical! Especially the last one. It was like swimming in an aquarium there were so many fish! Danny was a fantastic guide, super patient and made it a wonderful experience. Thank you!

Andres and Squalo Adventures were recommended by a local friend we made shortly after arriving to Isla Mujeres. We chatted with Andres extensively over Instagram before deciding to book our SCUBA adventure and he was responsive and helpful. We're so glad we booked with Squalo because their guides were great, gear was in good shape and the pricing was reasonable. We did a 2 tank dive: Manchones Reef and a drift dive off of Punta Sur. Daniel was our divemaster and he was awesome! He took close care of us in groups of 3 or 4, taught us about the local fish and their hand signals and made us feel safe. The reef was beautiful, overflowing with a diverse selection of marine life and the drift dive was the highlight, where we maneuvered a strong current and saw dozens of mating turtles. If you're considering who to dive with in Isla Mujeres, give Squalo Adventures a shot! We'll be back.I have my Open Water and a friend has never dived before. Obviously more $$ for the DSD but price was less than we pay in Aus. My BF had a great experience and was able to swim freely on the dives (they dont allow you to do this in Aus on a DSD). Staff were great, friendly and luckily for us spoke great English. MUSA was awesome, seen nothing like it before so was a unique experience for us, and Manchones - well any dives a good dive? Not the best or worst site I've dived but I thought underwhelming. The amazing visibility and beautiful blue waters saved this for me. The boat ride, staff and overall experience was fun, easy and very enjoyable and made for a great day. I would definitely recommend using these guys and would dive with them again!
