Learn to scuba dive during your Maui vacation by booking through Banyan Tree Divers Maui! Our dive booking service is owned and operated by a PADI instructor who has 20 years of professional teaching experience. Focus is on your safety and comfort with small group sizes. If you want the one-on-one attention you deserve, then you have found the Lahaina dive service for you. All of our guests receive personalized attention, and when possible, private diving.
PLEASE READ: You MUST be able to swim to complete the Introductory Dive. This means that each student can swim unassisted in the ocean. A Private Dive is REQUIRED for less comfortable swimmers, available in a separate listing. Misrepresentation of your swimming ability will lead to removal from the experience and NO REFUND.

Itinerary
Have you ever wondered what if feels like to breathe underwater? Shore diving on Maui offers the perfect conditions to try diving for your first time. Under the guidance of your dedicated instructor, you will learn about the basics of diving, practice a few skills in shallow water to get comfortable with breathing and how to use the equipment before continuing for an exhilarating scuba dive. Guests often see turtles, eels, and large schools of tropical fish! The entire Introductory Dive experience takes about 2.5 hours.

Ocean Swimming Ability is REQUIRED to complete this dive.
You must wait at least 18 hours to fly, zipline, or ascend to Haleakala AFTER your dive(s).
Before your lesson begins, you will be required to fill out a medical statement confirming that you are in good health to dive. You must be able to answer "NO" to each question. A "YES" ON THE MEDICAL STATEMENT WILL REQUIRE A DOCTOR CLEARANCE TO DIVE. Google "PADI Medical Form" to review ahead of time and make sure all answers are NO.
FAILURE TO ADHERE TO EACH OF THE ABOVE 3 STATEMENTS WILL LEAD TO REMOVAL FROM THE EXPERIENCE WITHOUT A REFUND.

- Not wheelchair accessible
- Not recommended for travelers with back problems
- Not recommended for pregnant travelers
- No heart problems or other serious medical conditions
- Travelers should have a moderate physical fitness level
- Minimum age to participate is 10
- Guests should be able to carry a minimum of 30lbs for a short distance
- After diving you must wait 18 hours to fly or ascend to 1, 000 feet or more
- Guests MUST be proficient at swimming in order to complete this activity. If you show up for diving and cannot swim, you forfeit your participation in the experience as well as your right to a refund.
- Must be able to answer NO to each question on the Medical Statement. A YES answer requires a doctor clearance. Failure to secure a doctor clearance when needed forfeits the ability to dive and the right to a refund. Please contact Banyan Tree Divers ahead of time for a copy of the medical form if you have any health concerns that might affect your ability to dive.
- Transportation not included. Please let us know if you will not have a rental car.
- Not recommended for travelers with asthma or sinus medical conditions
- Proficient SWIMMING ABILITY IS REQUIRED. This means that each student must be able to swim unassisted in the ocean.
- Hand sanitizer available to travelers and staff
- Gear/equipment sanitized between use
- Guides required to regularly wash hands
- Contactless payments for gratuities and add-ons
- While scuba diving involves minimal physical contact with guests, your immediate safety is our first priority. Thus, we are unable to promise consistent social distancing during your dive experience. All gear is sanitized before and after use.
- This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund
- This experience requires a minimum number of travelers. If it’s canceled because the minimum isn’t met, you’ll be offered a different date/experience or a full refund
- This tour/activity will have a maximum of 8 travelers
- Confirmation will be received at time of booking

You can present either a paper or an electronic voucher for this activity.
Cancellation
For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours in advance of the start time of the experience.

My grandson said this was the best day of his life scuba diving with Chris.. Highly recommend this to anyone, great experience, Chris was very fun and knowledgeable. He was able to read everyone's comfort level and adjust so everyone had an awesome time!

Our first scuba diving experience with Michael was awesome! He was so patient and calming which helped a lot! If you have time, I would highly recommend the 2nd dive. It was the the most scenic diving experience!

I absolutely recommend this dive school for its total professionalism from the very first interaction. As a nervous first timer, I have to give credit to Abby for her thorough explanation and patience. Every question I had was answered and the briefing gave me the confidence I needed to dive. Being amongst he turtles, sharks and beautiful fish, was remarkable and I enjoyed every minute of my first experience diving.
