The Minh Mang is one of the most interesting emperor tombs in Hue. Emperor Minh Mang (1820 - 1841) He had been planning to build a tomb for himself as early as 1826. The Minh Mang Tomb is renowned for its architecture, which fits harmoniously into the surrounding landscape. Like in other tombs of this period, the general elements of the tomb architecture are: outer-walls, triple gate (Tam Quan Gate), Salutation Court, Stele House, temples, lakes, pavilions, gardens and the tomb itself.

Tu Duc Tomb is one of the most beautifully designed complexes among the tombs of the Nguyen dynasty. Embedded in a lush pine forest, this tomb is the final resting place of Emperor: Tu Duc (1848-83) who had the longest reign of all emperors of the Nguyen dynasty.

Stop At: Tomb of Khai Dinh, Khai Dinh, 530000 Vietnam
Khai Dinh Tomb who ruled 1916-1925, the construction of the tomb was started on 1920 and lasted for 11 years. The architecture of this tomb is the most criticized of all the tombs of the Nguyen dynasty. The walls are densely decorated – almost comparable to Rokkoko style – with inlaid of elaborate glass and porcelain designs. The floor is covered with tile with decent flower design, the ceiling painted with nine dragons in fine fleeting clouds.

We booked our tour at the last minute with a free Whatsapp call using our hotel Wi-fi. The owner was very helpful and accommodating and gave us lots of options for our limited time in Hue. In the end we chose a tour of three tombs which our charming, friendly and very patient driver Hung escorted us to, giving us historical overviews as we went. We had a 5 month old baby with us and Hung was great with him as well as patient with us when we had to feed, change or otherwise distract him. Our only disappointment was that we didn’t have a chance to do any of the other tours offered by Stop and Go. We have however gone with them for our transfer to Hoi An along with some sights on the way. PS the tombs are well worth visiting and are all quite different.Mr Trung was our tour guide driver for the day, he was very helpful and friendly and had great English. We went to see 3 tombs and the abandoned water park.

We booked the tour just the evening before the tour took place. Everything went fine, the driver picked us up at our hotel in Hue and drove us to the tombs. It was none of a problem to replace one tomb by the pagoda and to be dropped off at the imperial city. Our driver John provided interesting information about the tombs, the Vietnamese history and answered all of our question. He gave us as much time as we wanted to visit the tombs. I booked a private driver to take me to three of the tombs. I was lucky to get Mr Trung as a driver. He was very kind and friendly. Safe driver. I would book him again! This company was also very easy to book through a walk-in visit to their office (was on my walk to the Citadel).Went to Stop & Go while in Hue and even if it was late, they managed to find me a French speaking guide for the next morning to go explore 3 tombs in Hue, as my time was limited.
