What to expect
Huayna Potosi is Bolivia’s most popular major peak in the Cordillera Real. Located at just 32 km from the city of La Paz, Huayna Potosi is known for its ease of access and imposing beauty as well as the fact that it is 88 meters over the magic 6000 meter figure. Huayna Potosi can be climbed by beginners with a competent guide and technical equipment. Beginners yes, but fit beginners; it’s quite steep toward the end and it’s a tough climb, but well worth the effort!

I booked the 3 day tour to climb Huayna Potosi with Jiwaki. It turned out to be an AMAZING experience. It was very tough(!), but we were a great group of 8 with 4 fantastic guides. Special thanks to guides William and Jesus who made this trip unforgettable. Equipment was in perfect condition, food plenty and guides professional. I would recommend this company for 100%. Good luck to reach the summit! (Because it is very demanding, but so worth it.)We did the 3 days hike to Huayana Potosi with Jiwaki and we can't recommend them enough! He pushed us but not too much. Unfortunately we didn't make it to the top because we were too slow but nevertheless it was totally worth it doing it!I joined a group of 4 as a solo traveller, although paid for a private guide for the summit, and Jesús, Mario and Júan looked after us so well. I joined a group of 4 as a solo traveller, although paid for a private guide for the summit, and Jesús, Mario and Júan looked after us so well. These guides really care about making your life as easy as possible on such a challenging climb and I would highly recommend Jiwaki to anyone looking to summit Huayna Potosi! We couldn’t have made it without them. Thank you!Completed the 3 day Huayna Potosi using Jiwaki as a friend had recommended them and I could not fault them on anything. Completed the 3 day Huayna Potosi using Jiwaki as a friend had recommended them and I could not fault them on anything. I had brought most of my own equipment but all the team I was with said how brilliant the equipment felt and was definitely all well maintained or new. The company uses perfectly good refuges at both base and high camp and the food provided is fantastic more than enough to always be full (and I eat a lot). The real hero of the trip was definitely my guide EULOGIO! The bloke is an absolute legend, had great chat in both Spanish and English and a top sense of humor (comes in handy when you’re pretty cold half way up a glacier). He was very big on safety always making sure everything was correct and that I was feeling ok. Even though I have a few climbs under my belt it was still good to see that he was setting a calm and steady pace and not forcing an early summit! A brilliant man who I would recommend for anyone to use, and someone I hope I can climb with again in the future. Muchas gracias Eulogio y Jiwaki para todo! One of the toughest things I've done but was an amazing experience summiting! One of the toughest things I've done but was an amazing experience summiting! Jiwaki were amazing the whole way through - good price and good gear, and helping us out with storing some of our things. Food was plentiful and delicious throughout. Ivan our guide was great, and very experienced - constantly making sure we were okay but giving us the push we needed to reach the top. And a good level of English as well. All in all, couldn't have had a better experience!
