You're lucky you ended up with all your dogs and that my girls didn't take one home! It was especially appreciated that you care so well for your horses! It is apparent that they are part of your family and not just part of your business. They are quite loved. Okay first of all let me start by saying I’m a huge animal lover. I really can’t stand seeing the animals we ride used and abused so I’m always very aware of that. We got to Discovery Farm and promptly greeted by their wonderful owners and staff. So friendly and English speaking too which was a plus for me. Their horses are all rescues that they have rehabbed back to track stars. In fact they are very well taken care of and it’s so evident when you look at them. They don’t even use bits either . We rode a guided tour up and down the mountain to a river where we had fresh fruit and cold drink and were given bentonite clay to put on our body and then take a swim. Was such a cool experience. My skin was soooo soft afterwards. I’m mad I forgot to buy some before leaving to take home to the states. I’ve riden horses many times in different countries and this by far is the BEST!!! I will be back!!!Simply spectacular!! Rod took our family of 5 (ranging from 2 1/2 to 65) on a horseback ride through beautiful trees and landscapes! Simply spectacular!! Rod took our family of 5 (ranging from 2 1/2 to 65) on a horseback ride through beautiful trees and landscapes! We stopped at a river where he gave us magical mud and told us stories about his adventures in Costa Rica (not to mention the best pineapple we have ever had)! Everyone had their own horse and Rod walked our 2 1/2 year old on her own horse the entire way! She loved it!! The horses were well taken care of and easy to ride. Rod was knowledgeable but acknowledged when he didn’t know something and told us who to ask that question to. Not only was the horseback ride amazing but the drive there and back were breathtaking. We saw monkeys, birds, crabs…. If you are thinking if this is something you should do… DO IT!! I cannot recommend this more!One of the absolute best international touristy riding experiences!! One of the absolute best international touristy riding experiences!! This couple truly care about their horses and how they are treated during the hacks. Most horses have a rescue-origin, where the previous owners didn‘t treat them the way they deserved. I rode a rescue horse (Safiro), which used to be spurred. He is now an absolute delight to ride and be around. Rod is an awesome guide, who knows his way around horsemanship and prioritizes the horses‘ well-being and not the profit he gets. This trait is very valuable to me as an experienced rider, but also as a rescue horse owner. Will definetely come back here!!This tour is an absolute Gem, highly recommend. We haven’t ridden a horse before but it’s completely safe, the horses are treated well and Rob who is from Victoria, BC has been doing it for 5 years since taking over the business. It is in the mountains and about 30 min from Jaco. The views are stunning and Rod is a great owner and deserves the business! Compared to a thirsty tourist trap!The experience was super fun. My horse Aragon was so gentle and easy to ride! Stopped halfway for a dip in the river and a mud bath. Over the trip was pretty amazing and fun! Lots of beautiful views along the way!
