Stop At: Asahiyama Zoo, Higashi Asahikawacho Kuranuma, Asahikawa 078-8205 Hokkaido
Asahiyama Zoo, in the northernmost part of Japan, is the landmark sightseeing spot of Hokkaido, and visited by huge number of visitors. This zoon has been designed to see not only animals’ appearance, also their behaviors through daily life display. In “Hippopotamus Hall”, ostrich and warthog could be found here as that in a natural environment; in “Seal Hall”, the movement of seal swimming in a glass pipe called “Marine Way” can also be clearly watched.
Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes
Stop At: Shirogane Blue Pond, Shirogane, Biei-cho, Kamikawa-gun 071-0235 Hokkaido
Biei is renowned for its gentle flower slopes, as well as its painting-like Blue Pond. The waterfall gushes with aluminum merges into Biei River, a colloid is produced and clashes with sunlight, therefore the lake presents the unique blue color. Moreover the withered Japanese birch and larch standing in the lake bring about a still yet gasping beauty.
Duration: 30 minutes

This tour covers all places that I want to visit in Hokkaido! (Plus other places like Asahiyama Zoo and Ninguru Terrace). The trip will safe your energy to visit all must-go places in Hokkaido. I joined this tour with my parents, and the comfortable bus help them to relax more during the trip (no hustle of changing public transportations). Fyi, public transportation in Furano area is also limited. My input, is to add more time in Tomita Farm, because 45 minutes is too short to explore the place. All in all, I think this travel is worth the price. I recommend this travel package to those who travel with small group of family, and to those who seek comfort. Just relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery of Hokkaido :)I thought it was fun and interesting to join a bus full of 90% local Japanese tourists, everyone was prompt, polite, and quiet. I thought it was fun and interesting to join a bus full of 90% local Japanese tourists, everyone was prompt, polite, and quiet. I was amazed to find out later the bus actually had 11 children on it. It's a well crafted itinerary, a good balance of nap/rest on the tour bus between the various tourist spots, quite a long travel distance in between these areas so it would've been a logistical nightmare if one has to travel to these spots in one day by themselves (public transportation or rental car), so I appreciate the day tour. The scenic spots were picturesque on the cloudless day we visited. Zoo was a little underwhelming but that's just my personal taste, growing up with enormous US zoos, Asahiyama zoo was a little claustrophobic for me. Our tour guide Shizuka was fantastic. Very friendly, professional, and thoughtful for the few handful of foreigners in the group, she made sure we didn't feel left out or confused being in a Japanese tour bus. She took extra effort to make sure everything was expressed clearly, and I appreciate the how considerate she was.The tour, on the overall, was quite enjoyable. The tour, on the overall, was quite enjoyable. We were picked up on time (7:30 a.m.) from the Premier Hotel at Nakajima park. The vehicle was a large, comfortable tour bus and the tour guide was friendly and helpful who, unfortunately, gave her running commentary mostly in Japanese. Asahiyama Zoo was interesting and exciting. The zoo is sited on a sprawling hillside with the different animal groupings scattered in a park-like setting. We particularly enjoyed watching the frisky red pandas and the deer. This first stop took about two hours and we had a filling picnic lunch there at the restaurant. (Watch out for the thieving crows). The entrance where we were let in was at the top of the hill, though, and it was quite a walk back uphill to get back to the bus. We were glad we wore comfortable walking shoes. Blue Pond was a short stop where we walked for a few minutes along its edge to view the man-made blue-colored water. (Why an environmental disaster site should be considered a tourist attraction, though, was beyond us). Nice, but really more of a side trip. Farm Tomita was the highlight of the tour. It was a joy to view the beautiful fields of flowers, especially the lavander. This is definitely a place for non-stop photo-taking either from the vantage points or along the pathways among the flowers themselves. We were there on June 28 and the flower fields were not yet in full bloom, though. (We wish there was an advisory beforehand when the fields would be in full bloom, though, so we could have scheduled our trip for a better date). Still, the view of the flower fileds was awe-inspiring and very relaxing prtcuarly from the benches at the edges of the fields. The place also had souvenir shops (their lavender products are interesting), and snack shops (lavender ice cream!). Very tourist-oriented. Our last stop was Ningle Terrace, a small forested area with a series of wood-cabin crafts shops arranged along a looped wooden walkway. Interesting to experience and quite a lot of shopping temptations as the items were all unique and definitely not what you would find in the usual souvenir shops. We arrived there in the early evening, though, and for some reason many of the shops were already closed. Still, it was a nice way to cap the tour before we we dropped back at the hotel around eight in the evening. In all, a very relaxing day. This tour was mostly Japanese speaking with English translation. Female guide tried to make sure we English speakers understood. This tour was mostly Japanese speaking with English translation. Female guide tried to make sure we English speakers understood. We enjoyed the visit to the zoo and the Blue Pond and it would have been much more complex to see these places with out a car. The Furano flower farm was not yet bearing lavender flowers except in 1 green house. The Ningeru Terrace was cute and we walked on the trails instead of "shop " in the small houses. I would have preferred to not see the lavender flower farm and the Ningeru Terrace and gone home a little earlier to Sapporo. .
