Waited 30 minutes for the guide to arrive at prearranged place. They never came. When we got back to the hotel and to wifi we found that a Whats App message had been sent 20 minutes prior, saying the tour was cancelled. Terrible service from the tour operator. Two weeks later we still have not received a refund from Tripadvisor. Moreover there is no obvious way to contact Tripadvisor about this refund - no email, no messaging. Their help centre is just FAQs. So we are still waiting and wondering if we will ever get our money back.He/she never showed up for the tour. We waited at the clock tower for 40 minutes. And he the nerve of telling us we were late. Bs because we were there at 1045am sharp for a 11am tour. We want our money back. This is a scam!!!!

This was the worst tour I have ever been on. The guide was not knowledgeable about the city of Bern, had no idea how to lead a tour and did not speak English well. The tour started at the famed clock tower but no stories or history about it was related. Next it was on to one of the famous fountains. The fountain was described but again no background information. When asked how old it was, she replied less than 800 years (the age of the city itself). Fortunately for us, the other group in the tour with us had a Swiss native, Thomas, (from Zurich) who was able to provide us with more information and did a better job describing what we were seeing than the guide herself. After 45 minutes, both the other group and my wife and I called Viator and told them we were ending the tour. Thomas graciously offered to take over the tour and made sure we saw all the highlights. When we attempted to get a refund Viator's response was: "Unfortunately, at this time we are unable to offer a refund. As per tour operator reason of denial we followed the itinerary, and our guide gave us all the information we needed. However, they invited a local who caused a lot of trouble and made offensive remarks about our guide, which is inappropriate" No offensive remarks were spoken but apparently the guide did not like being called out for lacking the knowledge she should have had. Allowing this guide to lead a tour under the Viator name makes a complete mockery of the company. Apparently there is no quality control to ensure the guides leading the tours have proper knowledge. The tour operator texted in the morning to move the time to earlier and I told them that was not possible due to a work conference I was attending. The tour operator texted in the morning to move the time to earlier and I told them that was not possible due to a work conference I was attending. Then they changed the tour guide and did not tell them I could not do the earlier time so the tour guide waited 30 min for me. They also sent a tour guide who was kind but had very little knowledge of Bern because they were busy and had overbooked their time. I had to look up all the sites to read about them myself. This was not worth the money I paid for us and it was disappointing to be rushed and not given an experienced guide.
