While the boat was well designed and comfortable, it is a very windy experience (and we got a sunny day) so definitely take many layers! We had gone with Prince of Whales because of the many positive reviews about informative and successful sightings so felt it only fair to add our experience to the voices. While Maurice (marine biologist on board) was informative when he started to tell us about the whales he was often interrupted by other staff and/or didn’t have working microphone so we found we only picked up bits of information and not the whole thing. For quite a lot of the information the first mate/photographer stood near us talked over the information entirely. It would’ve been good to hear more and especially hear more about what PoW do for conservation themselves?! It would also have been useful to hear more on the route we were taking, where were we? Were we on the lookout or not? If we were what for? Really missed taking us on the journey with them. Also felt that asking questions was an inconvenience there was a general lacklustre feeling that the staff didn’t want to be there, didn’t want to serve drinks (Tobin in particular was rude to customers when it came to drinks) don’t offer the service if staff don’t want to do it and let you know that! The whole journey felt like bare minimum achieved and return to base. Think they may have got complacent at being the big operator off Granville island. Sadly really didn’t meet expectations for us, disappointing especially for price so think twice on this one.We loved it all! We loved it all! Our naturalist guide was Wilma and she was so excited to show us information about the whales we saw. Very knowledgeable and so much fun! Our Captain Carl shut off the motor and we could hear the whales on multiple sides of us. They were pretty close to us and everyone loved it. We saw 15 different humpback whales, the most our guide has seen in a half day tour in 12 years. It was a privilege to share this with the whole staff. Great crew and very professional! They are advocates for the wildlife they love.Obviously, actually seeing whales is the peak of the whale watching experience. Obviously, actually seeing whales is the peak of the whale watching experience. While I realize the crew and company cannot make whales appear, they certainly used the available knowledge and information to make sightings the most likely, and it paid off. We saw several groups of Orcas and a humpback. A great afternoon! The other elements which we appreciated were the competent and outstanding crew (Capt Anthony, First Mate Roman, Naturalists Wilma, Maurice, and Tobin) the information we learned, the availablility of beverages and snacks, clean restrooms, and general care to our safety and well-being. Well done! From booking to boarding was easy with clear instructions. Highly recommend. The naturalists and boat crew of Prince of whales were fantastic. 10/10 recommend! We ended up seeing a dozen different humpback whales. The crew (Karl, Roman, Sebastian, Petra, Wilma) were really friendly and so knowledgeable. The best part is when they turned off the engine so we could listen to the whales. It was also great to get some professional pictures afterwards and to have hot chocolate on the boat! Wilma was one of our naturalists and she was wonderful. Plus it’s a great location to check out Granville Island before/after.Very well organized tour, with very personable and knowledgeable naturalists. Very well organized tour, with very personable and knowledgeable naturalists. We went on a cool, rainy day but still had a great time and saw about 10 different humpback whales (breaching, flapping pecs, and diving) plus sea lions and harbour seals. The complimentary hot beverages helped warm us up when we went inside the boat, where there are still good views due to huge windows. Our crew included Captain Karl, Sandy, Petra, Sebastian and Wilma. Thank you for a great adventure!
