Itinerary:
07:00-08:00 AM or 12:00-13:00 PM Pick up from your hotel in Samui
08:00 AM or 13:00 PM Arrive at Elephant Sanctuary. Enjoy a welcome snack, sip tea or coffee, and learn about elephants as you are given an introduction to our program.
08:15 AM or 13:15 PM Assist with the preparation of natural dietary supplements for the elephants
10:30 AM or 15:30 PM Eat traditional Thai food, freshly cooked Pad Thai, and seasonal fruit before saying goodbye to the Elephant Sanctuary.
11:00 AM or 16:00 PM Leave the Elephant Sanctuary and drop off at your hotel

BRING A SWIMSUIT! We booked onto this tour in August and it did not specify to bring swimwear, a towel or a change of clothes - which is what you need! Der Ausflug zum Elephant Sanctuary war gut organisiert. Wir wurden pünktlich vom Hotel abgeholt und am Ende auch wieder nach Hause gefahren. Das Essen war hervorragend, es gab sogar vegane Variationen und auch auf Nussallergien oder Schärfeunverträglichkeit wurde nach Abfrage geachtet. Wir durften das Essen für die Elefanten und einen typischen Thaisalat für uns selbst herstellen. Es wurde drauf geachtet, dass jeder Elefant gleich viel zu Essen bekam. Jeder Besucher durfte füttern und auch einige Fotos machen. Die Mitarbeiter waren alle sehr nett und aufmerksam. Wir durften als Hochzeitspaar in den Flitterwochen sogar einige Fotos abseits der anderen Touristen machen. Darauf sind wir mit den Elefanten baden gegangen und durften sie mit Schlamm einreiben. Wie ich mitbekommen habe, gibt es wohl einige Elephant Sanctuaries auf Koh Samui. Die Tiere müssen dort nicht “arbeiten” in dem Sinne, dass sie irgendwo angekettet wären und Touristen auf Berge tragen oder im Kreis laufen müssen, was ich sehr gut finde. Andererseits müssen die Elefanten auch so für die Touristen parat stehen, sich streicheln lassen und mit ihnen baden, was nicht jeder Elefant die ganze Zeit wollte. Sie haben eine große Anlage und werden gut gepflegt. Ich denke, da muss sich jeder seiner eigenen Werte bewusst werden. Für mich war es ein interessanter Ausflug, jedoch würde ich es nach meinem Werteempfinden nicht nochmal machen, da es für mich ähnlich einem Zoo ist. Ich mag Tiere lieber in ihrer freien Wildbahn, wo sie ihrem eigenen Willen nachgehen können.Must do trip. Amazing experience feeding and bathing the elephants. John was an excellent guide.
