Half-Day Tour: A Taste of Paradise and History of Antigua
Overview
This historical sightseeing tour will introduce you to Antigua's history, heritage and beauty. A visit to Betty's Hope is a must. A former sugar plantation which played a prominent role in Antigua and Barbuda's 300 year old history. You will also explore the natural phenomenon of Devil's Bridge, a natural bridge or arch created due to the Atlantic's waves crashing into the easterly coastline. Drive through quaint villages as you make your way to the Interpretation Centre to experience the culture and heritage of Antigua. Discover the ruins of the 18th century English Guard Post, Shirley Heights, which offers spectacular views of English Harbour and neighboring islands. Drive through the lush tropical area to get a firsthand view of the Antiguan black pineapple, the sweetest in the world. Samples of pineapple, and mango (seasonal), as well as a rum punch or fruit punch are offered.

Duration: 10 minutes
Stop At: Devil's Bridge, Willikies Antigua
Devil's Bridge with its haunting history, is absolutely breathtaking. This bridge was formed due to the Atlantic’s waves constantly crashing into the limestone rocks, which created a natural arch filled with geysers and blowholes over time. As the waves continue to break against these same coastal limestone rocks, it created stunning natural phenomenon. This stop promises to be a unique and moving experience. The limestone formation can be really slippery because of the waves, and it is not advisable to walk on top of the arch.

Michael was a top guide and nice fellow. He talked to us about the island, its history, geographic features, wildlife and people. I couldn’t recommend the tour more highly.
