Half day surf and adventure in Montezuma
Overview
Come and try the best thing to do in Costa Rica. Learn to surf in paradise! In this four-hour surf adventure you will experience amazing surf, enchanting locations, adventurous jungle trails(without carring the surf boards), breathtaking nature and exhilarating wildlife. Safety is our primary focus so we take surf to Playa Grande, a beach that it's located thirty minutes hike from Montezuma and is between two protected areas and wildlife refuges. With a long and big sandbar bottom, this is the perfect place to learn your first steps on surfing in a gentle and safe way. All surf equipment is included, and on the beach. The surf class is 2 hours and we do a break to recharge and get water & fruits (included in the price)

Itinerary
Let us help you to achieve your dream and learn one of the most satisfying experiences, the art of Surfing. After meeting in our meeting point in the center, of Montezuma town. We will hike through the very first protected areas and nationals parks in Costa Rica to get this surfing paradise located10 km inside the golf of Nicoya. because of this location, Playa Grande is protected from big swells and big currents creating like a pool with waves and holding a long sandy bar bottom all year round, the perfect place for the very first steps on surfing.
In this class we will cover a theoretical introduction for about 30 minutes: to behavior and attitude in the water, the 6 safety rules of the safety protocol for beginner level of surfing, basic techniques of surfing, and local surf etiques.
Also, we will take you to the water where you will practice with your instructor all the new knowledge. we will encourage you and provide you positive feedback to make this an unforgettable experience!!
we will have a middle brake on the class for hydration, resting and chilling. where we will provide you fresh fruits and water.

I have now surfed with Guillermo on two separate trips to the Nicoya Peninsula and can't wait to return again! I had never surfed before our first lesson together, and he still somehow managed to get me up on a board on the first lesson. My second trip I took 4 lessons with him because I COULD ...
I have now surfed with Guillermo on two separate trips to the Nicoya Peninsula and can't wait to return again! I had never surfed before our first lesson together, and he still somehow managed to get me up on a board on the first lesson. My second trip I took 4 lessons with him because I COULD NOT GET ENOUGH!!!! His calm (and so funny) demeanor is a joy and his intelligent feedback is so so helpful. He learns his clients quickly, and is able to tailor his lessons to his student. I attended the lessons alone (34yo female) and never for one second felt unsafe or uncomfortable. The trek to Playa Grande is most certainly not a nice easy walk along the beach, but with decent shoes its really managable...my 58yo mother did it. (I don't recommend flip flops. I learned the hard way and brought an old pair of sneakers which made it so much better) If you are visiting with a group that wants to surf, he accommodates you with added instructors, but the private lessons are 100% worth the money. I skipped other activities to take more lessons because I enjoyed it so much! I do wish that there was a better way to take pictures and videos, but on a private beach with your instructor in the water with you, its tough. (Going in a group would make this much easier, obviously.) The monkeys WILL take your stuff, so I use a large fanny pack that I can strap to a log...silly monos! Guillermo is also a wealth of information about other activities in the area led by locals, and has so much knowledge about the culture and environment. Having only taken one lesson previously, I was a bit nervous. Got a solo lesson, which was totally worth the price, and had a fantastic time. Great conversation with Guillermo on the hike to the beach (a good cardiovascular warm up, for sure- wear shoes that stay on your feet) and helped the Eart...
Having only taken one lesson previously, I was a bit nervous. Got a solo lesson, which was totally worth the price, and had a fantastic time. Great conversation with Guillermo on the hike to the beach (a good cardiovascular warm up, for sure- wear shoes that stay on your feet) and helped the Earth by picking up some plastic along the way. His "surf shack" is a hidden gem, and I felt safe the entire time. He provided great instruction, and had me standing up quite a few times over the 2+ hour lesson. The one bummer was, due to it being a private lesson, I was unable to get pictures or videos of me during my lesson. It would be difficult for him to set up a camera in the beach, as the monkeys seem to steal anything they can get their hands on. Silly monkeys. Perhaps something can be done about that in the future, but the memories will last forever even without photo evidence. I'll be returning to Costa Rica soon, and can't wait to book more lessons for me and my friends with Guillermo!!!k8ln_fng

My friend and I had a great time taking surf classes with Guillermo!! learned so much from him. He is very patient with his students, and he is extremely fun to be around. Him and his instructors bring really great energy to the ocean and their love for surfing is contagious!

This is a great place if you are a beginner. The waves are not too big in february. The instructor is very patient, and he is quick to read your level, and he gives you constructive feedback. And he speaks english without problems. Thank you for a really great experience!
