Can't fault the crew & skipper but due to bad weather we were unable to go to the hole in the rock. Instead had a tour of various islands, looking for dolphins, sadly none to be seen. But the annoying thing was that we stopped at Otehei Bay, Urupukapuka Island and were told we couldn't stay on the boat as they were doing some safety checks. We alighted but to use the facilities at the cafe we had to purchase drinks/food or go for a walk or shelter under a tree as it was raining etc.. Can't deny the beauty of the place but best experienced in fine weather. Also wish we were informed or the "alternate" cruise before we left the wharf and we would have chosen not to go on it and rebooked for another day/time.We had a fabulous morning at sea, though it was very rough and wet. We didn't get to see the hole in the rock, due to safety concerns with how rough the bay was, but it was still worth the trip as so much more to see and do.

We were a large family group visiting Paihia and managed to fit in a visit on Island Getaway tours to the various islands in the the Bay of Islands. This five hour cruise starts at 10am from the wharf and ends at 3 pm. During the time on the boat we cruised past Russell and were able to opt to be dropped off there on the way back if we so chose, and then catch the ferry back later. We visited and explored two islands. Climbing to the top of the hill on the first island, we had a beautiful 360 degree view. On the second island we were able to swim, paddle board and snorkel. The lunch of freshly made sandwiches, muffins, fruit and a sweet treat was worthwhile. We also had the chance to learn more about sea life and Kina in particular. The guides were friendly and helpful and welcoming.Whakamihi an earned celebration of Taira, Matt, Grace and team for an exceptional afternoon round the bays.
