Stop At: Donkey Sanctuary Aruba, Bringamosa 2Z, Santa Cruz 11111 Aruba
Get the opportunity to mingle with some real locals at the Donkey Sanctuary. Founded in 1997 as a non-profit and completely volunteer run organization, their mission is simple. Save the Donkeys! Although not originally native to the small island of Aruba, they have existed here for 500 years having been the primary mode of transportation until cars began to be introduced on the island in increasing numbers. At that point, many Arubans no longer had the need for their formerly beloved donkey, and sadly in the 1970’s, a dangerous and rapidly spreading illness nearly caused their extinction leaving behind a population of only 20 wild donkeys.

The people of Aruba take very good care of the animals, and it was great to see that. My wife and I like animals and always like to get close up encounters. This is the place to see and feed and pet the donkeys.....we loved it.

I chose this tour because I really wanted to see some of the animals on the island and taxis to get to these places individually were going to be pricey! This tour was a great way to spend the morning visiting the different animal sanctuaries of Aruba. Our favorite was the Ostrich Farm-feeding the ostriches was a one of a kind experience! We also loved feeding animals at the donkey sanctuary and Phillip's Animal Garden. Phillips even had some VERY new baby piglets and they were the cutest thing! The hotel pick up and drop off was super convenient and made this tour even easier for us. I would recommend this tour if you love animals and want to spend a few hours doing something different :)Everyone was very friendly... please bring money for tips, comfy hoes, water and sunblock. The guide had waters but I don't know if all of them carry waters. Also the sun can be brutal...plan accordingly! Oh and you cannot hold any animals but you can feed them carrots.

Wonderful experience! The tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. The donkey sanctuary was my favorite but all the places were interesting and fun.We had plenty of time to interact with the animals at each location. Our driver, Nano was very attentive to each person on the tour making sure we had water if we wanted and that everyone was accounted for.
