Overview
The altitude ranges from 4750 feet to 5300 feet with 40% Lower montane wet forest and 60% Premontane wet forest. Five miles of natural trails allow visitors to explore the flora and fauna of the tropical cloud forest.

Stop At: Curi Cancha Reserve, 300 meters west of the Monteverde Cheese Factory, 60109 Costa Rica
Located in the heart of the Monteverde area Curi Cancha with about 200 acres has some of the best trails and forests to visit in Costa Rica. This is a different place where you can see many different types of birds that can be found only at this elevation.

Rodiber was a great guide, very knowledgable and flexible as to what we wanted. He found us three quetzals, a bellbird and a MotMot, and told us some really interesting facts about ecology in Costa Rica and the history of quetzal feather headdresses! Curi Cancha was our favourite reserve at Monteverde, small and manageable but open enough to get great views and see the wildlife. We stayed In the reserve for quite a while afterwards to have lunch at watch the hummingbirds. highly recommend Rodiber as a guide; ask for him if you book. Vi fick se många fina fåglar, inklusive en quetzal. Vi fick även se en armadillo, coati och olika ekorrar. Vi såg även en tarantella. Det regnade men trots det var det en lyckad tur.

My two sons and I paid a visit to Curi Cancha in June 2023. Our tour guide was Rodiber, who showed us the magic of this tropical rain forest. In no time, Rodiber helped us spot a transprant butterfly, then many humming birds, turkeys, then of course the world famous toucans, plus many other creatures. We couldn't have seen any of these had we gone there ny ourselves. How do I know? Well, a day earlier the three of us went to hike the Arenal 1968 trail, a place with comparable biodiversity, we heard the sounds of lots of birds but we saw few. Basically we were clueless. Not so for the trip with Rodiber: his professionalism just shows during the 3-hour trip. Highly recommended without reservationExcelent expirence with Rodiber, very professinal and leaded us see many interesting animales. His English is super good, highly recomend!
