What to expect
Approximately 4 hours of Birdwatching one of the worlds best known hotspots. The guide will help you spot and setup the equipment for Photography. You can expect too see various species of Toucan, Tanagers, Parrots, Hummingbirds and many others.

- We are COVID aware but dont insist the guests wear masks as we usually accomodate only individuals or small family groups on private tours that are conducted in the open air.

Our guide, Irman Arias, is an amazing bird guide. He can locate the birds quickly and also chooses the right places for observation and photography. Ours was a private tour where he along with his excellent driver, Jason, picked us up from our hotel in Mindo at 5:15AM and drove for 30 minutes to this observation place well before the sunrise. The birds had already started to gather (Silky winged Guans and a variety of Tanagers). With the sunrise, arrived the three Plate-billed Mountain Toucan and almost immediately a group of Crimson-rumped Toucanets. These two alone would have been enough to make me dance with joy. And then we saw a Masked Trogon. But, there were more birds to follow and I photographed 23 "new" birds for me, the total count was more than that. From there, we went to another observation area and saw the Collared Aracari and another place for the Common Potoo. He had also brought an excellent breakfast for us which included among other things the best "Empanada Viento" that I have ever eaten! Irman has a soft and quiet personality and is very efficient in his process. I highly recommend using his services for birding if you go to Mindo, which you should.We had a great experience with our lovely guide Irman Arias. Irman took us on a walk through the forest and showed us birds we would have never seen without his help. We had a great experience with our lovely guide Irman Arias. Irman took us on a walk through the forest and showed us birds we would have never seen without his help. Through his lens (apart from providing binoculars for the guests he brings a lens on a tripod) we saw beautiful birds like Toucans and different types of colorful Tanagers. He has an incredible knowledge about the local flora and fauna. We are very happy we decided to have this tour, it was a very special experience and we recommend it highly!Mi Esposa and I saw just under 130 species in two days with Irman, but a couple of highlights of the trip were seeing a Tayla and a giant Earthworm 🪱 We went with Irman in 2013 also and been looking forward to seeing him ever since. We spent two mornings with Irman and it exceeded our expectations. We saw over 60 species in a few hours. Given I was photographying, Irman was able to get me into great positions. His knowledge of bird calls is exceptional as is his understanding of ecolgical niches and what to expect. Irman organises transport and breakfast and make for a well organised outing. We returned each day with lots of images to process but importantly the feeling of wonderful experiences.We had an amazing time birding with our guide! He is very knowledgeable and you can tell he's been birding for a long time. I recorded the birds we saw on the trip with his help and wrote down over 40 different species in 2 hours! Highly recommend for a beautiful morning birding session in Mindo....
We had an amazing time birding with our guide! He is very knowledgeable and you can tell he's been birding for a long time. I recorded the birds we saw on the trip with his help and wrote down over 40 different species in 2 hours! Highly recommend for a beautiful morning birding session in Mindo. I use the Merlin Bird App and he was able to show me on there which birds we were seeing as well.
