What to expect
Begin your extreme jungle tour on top of a deep canyon cliff and take an adrenaline-pumping rappel down an 80-foot waterfall. Listen to the crashing water and watch your guide’s hand signals for instructions as you descend. Once you get the hang of it, bounce off the rock wall on your way down. When you’re near the bottom, let go! Splash into a deep pool of transparent water and swim to shore. Follow your guides as you descend the canyon and jump into a series of pools of crystal clear blue water below.
You’ll conquer four waterfall jumps, ranging from 10 to 30 feet, calling for different types of leaps and landings, with more pools of water waiting for you.
Soaked but exhilarated, swim to the rocky shore after your final waterfall jump and then enjoy a tropical fruit fiesta. We then head to our headquarters at the El Salto waterfall, you'll tear into a hearty lunch featuring sumptuous local fare and afterward, doze off during the ride back to your hotel.

Wonderful 36 ft jump into water at the end (you know it's serious when they tell you not to hold your nose because you might get hurt). 5 stars David is great. My fiance and I did this tour as part of our honeymoon in Costa Rica. My fiance and I did this tour as part of our honeymoon in Costa Rica. The tour consisted of 2 rappels and I think 4 waterfall jumps, including a 35 ft jump to end which was very exciting! My fiance and I are experienced canyoneers, and we definitely didn't expect this tour to be super crazy from our perspective! It catered to people who have never rappelled before, and is definitely very safe. The only thing that was a little tricky was that I instinctively tried to jump in and handle my own rope and they definitely did not let me do that! Which I get from a liability perspective- after all just because I say I know what I'm doing means nothing to them. However, if you are experienced just be prepared to let go of your instincts (literally - there is one point they actually want you to let go of the rope so they can belay you and then drop you into a pool) and let the guides do it all for you! If you aren't experienced, this is super beginner friendly and you'll have a great safe time! The lunch following the tour (which is included) was AMAZING. Healthy and so many vegetarian options! We were highly impressed with the Desafio headquarters (this is where lunch will be held). The facility is beautiful and well kept. I give this tour 10/10! My only tips for improvement would be for Desafio to lower the amount of people in a group - we had 14 people in our party, which is a LOT for a rappelling trip. Granted, the guides did a good job moving people through quickly, but it would've been more fun if we could've been broken up into smaller groups. Second, and this would probably be solved by lowering the amount of people in the group, figure our a more efficient pick up system! We got picked up at our hotel at 5:50am and we didn't get to "basecamp" (aka the drop in) until 8:30am (and it is only a 45 min drive). We spent a lot of time waiting for people at the Desafio downtown La Fortuna office. I think smaller groups would solve this issue! Overall though this is a great tour and a great intro to canyoneering if you've never done it before! This tour requires you to be in fairly good condition as it requires not only rappelling down canyon walls but back up them with only the assist of a fixed rope as well. This tour requires you to be in fairly good condition as it requires not only rappelling down canyon walls but back up them with only the assist of a fixed rope as well. You basically hike to a small river and rappel down to it and then jump into it here and there in different locations going up and down the canyon walls. Then you come to the end of the tour and a ramp they built which you are to jump off of and its about a 40'tall jump which is nothing to take lightly. And once you jump in, you are on your own to get out of the pool and climb back up the wall which is straight up and difficult. There were only 4 people on our tour and 30 people on the easier tour so they let us jump in as many times as we wanted. I jumped in twice but my girlfriend jumped in the first time and hit at a bit of an angle and hurt her lower back which became a problem for the rest of our trip and three weeks later is still hurting her. TIP: If you do this, look down at your toes as you jump and then tuck your arms as you hit the water. This will keep your entry angle straight up and down as you are hitting the water at around 40mph. This tour was exactly what we were looking for and I should have told her to do this but I had already jumped and was climbing back out when she hit the water. Great tour in a beautiful jungle canyon but you better be fit.Such a great time !! A must do if visiting La Fortuna. My boyfriend and I loved it all. The gravity falls waterfall jumping and canyoning by Destafio was the craziest excursion I’ve ever done. The guides were super supportive throughout the entire experience. Definitely a must try for anyone looking for adventure. For those afraid of water activities- you may wear a life vest the entire time. Lost my shoe to the water after the final (optional) 30ft jump. Thank you Arturo for the save!Desafio as incredible! The customer service was outstanding. I've never repelled from a 200 ft cliff which was so exhilarating! I was definitely out of my comfort zone. Desafio as incredible! The customer service was outstanding. I've never repelled from a 200 ft cliff which was so exhilarating! I was definitely out of my comfort zone. You jump off a few cliffs into the water as well. My favorite was repelling down the waterfall and jumping into the water from 50 ft high! I would recommend this company to EVERYONE! The lunch they provided was amazing too--it was at their own resort and it was freshly made, good coffee, music playing, amazing views! This excursion exceeded my expectations!!!
