I booked this tour to begin just a couple of hours after my arrival in Granada, and I don’t think I could have made a better choice. My tour guide, Fredder, picked me up in a van from my hotel and drove me our first destination, a very important cemetery on the west side of the town. From there we traveled east, stopping at each of the distinct and important landmarks along the way. Fredder was super knowledgeable about the history of Granada and Nicaragua. He also spoke wonderful English, so I was able to follow along and easily understand everything he was telling me. Along the way, he offered water and beer, ensuring my every need was catered to and that I was able to enjoy the experience to my liking. I’m not a fan of beer, so I only drank the water. But, I think offering both is a wonderful perk for this tour. After we climbed the bell tower at La Merced, we took a horse drawn carriage down to the shores of Lake Nicaragua, which was another wonderful way to see Granada. After that, he got back in the van and drove over to Central Park for the final part of the tour. I seriously can’t recommend this experience enough, as it was a truly amazing way to see and experience Granada. Another really amazing perk was that Fredder introduced me to people throughout the city that we crossed paths with including his English teacher, a famous poet in Granada, and a music teacher from Germany who has called Granada home for 30+ years. By the time the tour was done, I felt like I wasn’t just a tourist in the city but had became part of the fabric of Granada too.BlackBlake
