What to expect
Escape Quebec City for a day, and experience an exciting adventure on the water. Meet us at the central departure point. Meet your guide and board a deluxe motor coach. Travel along the picturesque mountainous coastline of the St Lawrence River to reach Baie-Sainte-Catherine, where you’ll board either the AML Grand Fleuve observation boat or a speedy zodiac for a memorable afternoon of whale-watching.
You will have 2 boat options for your whale watching: The Grand Fleuve is a large, three-level boat with a glassed main deck, covered upper deck, a bistro/bar. A naturalist will share illuminating facts during your journey. The Zodiac is a small, open-air boat that allows you to zip through the water to enjoy super-close access to whales and marine life. Your captain will provide live commentary on your journey.
Both vessels depart from the north shore of the St Lawrence for an exciting encounter with whales, seals and belugas! Discover the many faces of the St Lawrence River, including the Saguenay–St Lawrence Marine Park, a lighthouse, fascinating islands and an amazing diversity of marine life.

Wonderful zodiac experience. The bus ride is long and could have done with some additional commentary. Felt that the guide, while nice, was of little use and a driver alone could have handled what he did. Timing was also a bit off with having to stand around for 45 minutes before the excursion began. Overall small details in what was an amazing and beautiful day on the water. We were able to catch some glimpse of whales, seals, and a waterfall during the trip. The small boat is recommended to a big cruise.
We were able to catch some glimpse of whales, seals, and a waterfall during the trip. The small boat is recommended to a big cruise.very, very disappointing. We were made aware of the travel journey to Tadoussac, which was acceptable if our expectations had been met on the water. We saw NO WHALES. No option of going out on another trip or reimbursement, which would be considered the norm when going on wildlife trips in Europe...

I would definitely not recommend this trip. It's a long way from Quebec, but we highly recommend the whales watching because it's a unique experience.

I’m not going to veer wildly from most of the other reviews about this trip. Coach rendezvous outside central tourist office departs about 9 so be there 8.40. Coach has a toilet. Alain, the driver, gives useful information and some personal anecdotes on the outward journey. There is a stop for 30 minutes, about halfway, for coffee, washroom and the purchase of sandwiches etc. We went on the large boat. It travels out for about an hour from harbour, you see whales for about an hour and then you travel back to port and get on the coach for the return c. 3-hour journey. There is a brief stop of 10 minutes at a service station on the return journey. Back into Quebec City for c. 19:30.Even when we weren't in the midst of active whale feeding (which was a lot on our particular outing!) the cruise itself was very enjoyable. Comfortable boat, enough space for everyone to not feel crowded, and beautiful scenery!
