This review is way overdue. My wife went on a full day tour with Roger and his team and was absolutely blown away by the entire experience, exclusiveness, authenticity, and value. 100% highlight of trip to Peru (better than Machu Pichu). Should point out that this is a lesser known tour and Roger has access to one of the mountains in the range via his home village that has not been opened up to other tour agencies so you literally have th mountain to yourself! Anyway, was a long day (started early with pickup from hotel in Cuzco at 4am, long car ride to the mountain, 3 hour hike to the top of rainbow mountain), but we were able to sleep until breakfast halfway to the destination. Good spread and then from there it was a beautiful ride up through the mountains and we drove through the village Roger was from and met his family before we headed up to the trail head. Amazingly beautiful terrain with glaciers as backdrop and very remote with mountain farmers and alpaca shepherds in traditional Cechua attire. Pretty hard hike given the altitude (though steady incline and not too vertical), but Roger was a pro starting the day with a prayer to the mountain/glacier god, provided cocoa leaves, and busted out agua de Florida when we would start to get winded (awesome local liquid which you slap on your face and inhale to open up nasal and get more oxygen - def brought some back home as souvy), and provided lunch at top of the mountain. I was able to handle the full hike but if you want Rogers buddy can run back down and get a horse to ride to the top if needed (my wife asked him about this the day before so he arranged it). At top of the mountain, you literally see all the colors of the rainbow in the sediment on the mountain (various different natural minerals deposits like sulfur, zinc, iron, magnesium, etc. that have been blown around by the wind and collected at the top of the mountain) and there’s an entire range of these mountains all around the one we hiked so the views from the top top are amazing. We hung out in a little stone structure to block the wind and have lunch and cocoa tea which Roger provided and he explained his culture and ancestral heritage with us which was really great. On the way back down, we met his Mom again on the side of the road who passed us fresh sweet potatoes as a snack after the hike which hit the spot until we could get food later on (we also met her on side of the road on way up to his village and she gave us the cocoa leaves for the hike). Really great experience. Roger was the best. Definitely recommend this excursion to anyone looking for a great day trip and hike while in Cusco.Did this full day hike to the Rainbow Mountain with Roger as our guide. A fellow traveller, Ram spoke highly about the experience and we decided to hike with them. It was truly a rewarding trip. Everything from start to the end was incredibly nice.

There weren´t many people around so i could relish the views on my way up tp the summit. Roger is a wonderful guide and I highly reccomend the tour.

Just got back from my hike to the rainbow mountain and it was incredibly amazing. The crew, transport, food.. everything were just right. The place is high up in the Andes and requires a challenging hike to get to the summit. Vies are very nice and the trail takes through different Andean communities. They included both breakfast and lunch as a part of the tour.
