Enjoy a wonderful full-day outdoor adventure as you go horseback riding and also get to explore Coyote Canyon and its surrounding region very extensively.
First, you will visit the ranch and have the opportunity to milk cows, help make fresh ranch-style cheese and tortillas, chase and capture chickens, piglets, sheep and goats. Then, you will begin the riding part of this great adventure and have a memorable time. Also included in this adventure are activities like hiking, swimming, roping lessons, cattle-herding and a delicious campfire meal prepared by the cowboys on the trail.
The horseback riding portion of this excursion follows the same general route as the half-day excursion including a 40-minute descent to the bottom of the canyon, where you find a winding river named La Virgen which you will cross at several points. Enjoy truly breathtaking views in every direction and the river crossings fun and exciting. Our Guide (Yunuen) and the "vaqueros" lead by Antonio were terrific, as were the horses (Mariachi, Altanero and Moro). The scenery is also fantastic! We strongly recommend it!This was definitely one of the highlights of our family trip to San Miguel. It certainly was not your typical horseback ride! The ride included some espectacular rides through Coyote Canyon and our ascend to the top was just amazing. I had no idea horses could climb that well. Rodrigo was an amazing guide with so much knowledge of the surrounding areas which made our ride more interesting.Did the full-day tour with Lino. Did the full-day tour with Lino. Met up at 9, bit of a drive to the dig site entrance, after which you drive farther down, then a further walk uphill to the digsite. Not for the poorly mobile. Lino tells you about the history of the Chichimeca and their beliefs in the afterlife. What he won't tell you is how to use the dry toilet at the digsite. Ate a delicious meal at the ranch, which was pleasant. The horseback tour goes deep into the canyon along the river, crossing through it several times. The trail goes up and down steep inclines so be advised. You go to the top of the mesa then go back down. You get driven back to the city. It's definitely a full 9 to 5 day.My wife and I took the half day Coyote Canyon Adventures with Lino as our guide. The group consisted of just the two of us. My wife and I took the half day Coyote Canyon Adventures with Lino as our guide. The group consisted of just the two of us. Lino was on time, friendly, informative, and completely bilingual. The day was prefect. The scenery was fantastic. It gave us sometime very different to do after a week of city touring. We have very limited experience with horses, but that was not a problem. We finished the day with a simple, healthy lunch at a local ranch house. We highly recommend this experience.Had a great time with Lino. Had a great time with Lino. Stopped at a local farm to collect eggs, milk the goats and make tortillas. Then eat breakfast - which was super tasty and clean. Local family super welcoming and genuinely friendly. Lovely people to be around. Goats very tame. Off to the horses. Comprehensive briefing. Happy and well looked after horses. Then 45 mins through the canyons, wading rivers and up the side of the canyon wall. We all felt safe and the cowboys accompanying us kept everything under control. Stopped at the top for the view and a rest. Then back down, further rest. Then along to the lunch stop - where the cow it’s cooked tortillas on a camp fire - all good and tasty. Back off on the horses. Return to base. Great day out. Actually pretty tired at the end but I don’t ride - so may just be me being unaccustomed to the experience.
