Overview

We have qualified guides that have expert knowledge, they will give you an insight into the history of Johannesburg and Soweto. Your Guide will also give you reflections on the current state of the city and will answer your questions on a range of topics. We will pick you up at your hotel and drive past Nelson Mandela's house in Houghton, then we will proceed to go get a view the Northern suburbs up on of Johannesburg up Munro Drive. The we visit Constitutional Hill where Nelson Mandela, Mahatma Gandhi and many activists that shaped the course of South African history were once imprisoned. This is also the site of the highest Court in the Land is located. We will drive you through Braamfontein and over the Nelson Mandela Bridge to the Central Business District of Johannesburg and explore what makes this thriving city unique. Then we head to Soweto to discover this amazing township which is home to two Nobel Peace Prize Laureates and the site of the June 16, Soweto Uprising.

The Apartheid Museum opened in 2001 and is acknowledged as the pre-eminent museum in the world dealing with 20th century South Africa, at the heart of which is the apartheid story.

The Apartheid Museum, the first of its kind, illustrates the rise and fall of apartheid.

An architectural consortium, comprising several leading architectural firms, conceptualised the design of the building on a seven-hectare stand. The museum is a superb example of design, space and landscape offering the international community a unique South African experience.
