We'd originally planned this tour for our first day in Atlanta, hoping to get a little idea of what we wanted to go back to see more in depth. A minor snafu occurred and our tour was pushed to our second day. After we'd gotten over that minor mishap, and started our tour, we loved seeing the murals in Cabbagetown and probably should have asked (or been offered) to stop to take some photos. Our guide very clearly knew the history of the area and was willing to share both modern and older history of how areas got their names. Getting an idea of neighborhood pride, the history and information of Oakland Cemetery, and seeing the MLK Jr. memorial were definitely highlights. Unfortunately, (and through no fault of our guide or the company) the Ebenezer Baptist Church was closed at the time we visited. Overall, this was a good tour, but I think we just would have preferred it occur on the day we'd scheduled it. (We ended up visiting Olympic Centennial Park and the Civil and Human Rights Center on our first day, but having more background of the highlights of Atlanta would have been my preference.)Melinda was an excellent guide. Full of information, very easy to engage with for conversation about the things we went to see. This tour really enriched our short visit to Atlanta by giving us context that we just wouldn’t have gotten by ourselves. Thank you!

I took the “From Civil War to Civil Rights” tour this week, and my guide was Melinda. The tour was excellent and Melinda was a truly gifted tour guide. Melinda is a native Atlantan and she really knows her city exceptionally well. I learned a lot about Atlanta and its past, and how that past has shaped its present, and also about some of the important people who have made the city and the entire region what it is. Melinda showed me around a great part of the city, weaving in the history and the present-day as we went along. I particularly enjoyed Auburn Avenue, and learning about the attendant important civil rights giants who lived there, and also Cabbagetown and the former mill factory area. DTours was responsive to my emails and queries, and were very nice, thoughtful, knowledgeable, and interesting. I highly recommend this tour. Even if you already know something about Atlanta and its history, you will learn a lot and enjoy yourself.Wonderful experience! Our tour guide Melinda was very knowledgeable on the subject and more. She accommodated to our needs and we were very satisfied with this experience. Thank you Melinda!

Dan was interesting, knowledgeable, and obviously passionate about his city. There were four of us -- two on our first visit to Atlanta and our two friends who live here. One of our friends said that the tour made him fall in love with the city all over again. Dan arrived on time and throughout the tour made sure that our expectations were being met. He will personalize the tour based on what you want to see and learn, and we learned so much! Dan's style of delivery is casual yet very informed. He's a good driver, too. I recommend DTours without hesitation.
