Fontainhas, the capital of Panjim’s Latin quarter, is known for narrow lanes full of colorful Portuguese villas with balconies and red-tiled roofs.
We begin our walk from down the road restaurant Old patto bridge.
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: India Post Panjim Head Post Office, FRXM+J2W, MG Road, Patto Colony, Panaji, Goa 403001, India
Continue our walk through the streets of São tomé Chapel. 31st January street
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: Confeitaria 31 De Janeiro, Corte De Oiterio, Rua 31 de Janeiro, behind Mary Immaculate Girls School, Cortin, Altinho, Panaji, Goa 403001, India
Stop at local bakery to taste some of the local delicacies of Goa.
Duration: 15 minutes
Stop At: St Sebastian Chapel, Sebastian Road, Panjim 403001 India
Continue our walk through the quaint streets of Fontainhas to be mesmerised by the colorful Houses that date back more than a 100 hundred years.
Stop by a community Well which was provided by the portuguese to supply fresh drinking water to the inhabitants living around this area.

Stop At: Fontainhas, Panjim India
We continue our walk towards Phonte De Phoenix the fountain the water source from where this part of the city was built and gets its name fontainhas.

I got an amazing personalized tour. His name is Mario, and he was quite helpful and pleasant to us. He directed and enlightened us in excellent detail throughout our tour. He explained to us in detail about each point of interest, as well as what was around. We visited Utorda Beach, two churches, Basilica de Bom Jesus and Se Cathedral, as well as the epic local market in Panjim Municipal Market and several souvenir shops along June 18th Road. The last spot we visited was Fountainhas, where we were able to sample the Bebinca cake. We had a tour and learned a lot about the history of Fountainhas. I have often visited Goa but have never been on tour of Goa. This visit I decided to book this tour I was totally mesmerised by the beautiful colourful houses and buildings and the amazing stories Mario our guide related to us as we walked along. The highlight of this tour was the visit to the oldest bakery to taste some of the local sweets of Goa which I and my Husband thoroughly enjoyed.although i’ve grown up in goa, tagging along on a fountainas heritage walk opened my mind! i’m a geek for architecture, and mario really opened my mind to the different details involved with the initial construction of panjim. i’d love to do it again or perhaps take some friends with me next time :)
