Inclusions
- Macdui Bike Adventures provides modern, high specification mountain bikes. They have full suspension, low gear ratios and off-road tyres. We provide helmets and gloves.
What to expect
Tours leave at either 9.30 in the morning or 2.30 in the afternoon and we'll be out for about 3 hours. This bike adventure will leave from Loch of Skene, or close to your accommodation if required. We will set up the bikes for you, check equipment, give you some riding advice and then head out on to the trail.
Every route is curated to suit your family and designed to match your abilities. We will take the estate tracks and trails up the glens, through the ancient forests, passing bothies and castles, passing lochs and crossing over burns.

- Not wheelchair accessible
- No heart problems or other serious medical conditions
- Travelers should have a moderate physical fitness level
- Not recommended for Travellers that can not jog a few hundred metres
- This tour/activity will have a maximum of 6 travelers

Mike offered to take us on one of his lower/family friendly rides as my daughter had limited experience on single track. I must say Mike got the distance, feel and experience just right. We started off in the surrounding areas of Balmoral; crossing rivers and through enchanting pine woodland. Mike took the time to stop and explain points of interest as a well as coaching, and nurturing my daughter around. We were amazed trhat we could get so close to Balmoral! We headed up into the Highlands behind the castle where we really experience that Scottish weather, and mountain air. It was beautiful. We had a lunch target of a Bothy which we could see in the distance.... a great incentive for a youngster and a tiring mother! It got so windy that my daughter nearly got blow off the bike. Mike stopped us to assess the situation and I am so glad he decided to continue as the bothy experience was brilliant So cosy and atmospheric. As a southerner I was unaware that these places existed. I do a lot of mtb around the surrey hills but nothing compares to this and I never thought I would enjoy having a guide as much. It allowed me to relax and enjoy the experience which is exactly what I wanted on my hol. Mike came to our home to help teach our two youngest boys to ride. Mike made adjustments to the bike so their seat was at the right height and the brakes were comfortable. Countryside, views were amazing definitely gave me a longing to explore more off road.Great coaching session with Mike, who is a great coach, making sure that everyone learns something new, whatever their skill level.
