Eco Paddle Board Tour To The Benagil Cave: Exclusive Small Group
Overview
From there we will show you the most breathtaking caves, “algars” and natural formations always with one of our guides taking the lead, making sure that everybody is safe and having the most fun. The duration of our expedition is aprox. 2 hours and 30 minutes, where we gonna have time to rest/photos at the most famous cave of Portugal, the “Algar” of Benagil.
We intend to take small groups on our tours (maximum 10 people), so we can develop a closer relation with you and make sure that everyone has the attention that is needed.
We will finish our journey, once again, at Carvalho beach where you can spend the rest of your day taking sunbaths or swimming. The beach is part of one the most famous trails of Europe the “Seven Hanging Valleys”.
We will take pictures during the tour that we will gladly offer to you.
Inclusions
- All equipment needed for the Tour (Paddle board, paddles, life jacket);
- Dry bags for essential equipment (cameras, phones, keys).
- GoPro 10 photos; Insurance.
What to expect
- Departure from the spellbinding Carvalho beach into the ocean with your guide always by you side, one person per paddle board.
- After departure, we slide across the coastline paddling benagil direction, visiting the caves and secret beaches along this unique and radical route we prepared for you.
- Approximately 1 hour into the tour we reach and stop inside the Famous cave “Algar de Benagil”
- Stay inside the cave for around 30 min for some photos, connections and revitalizing our energies!
- Return paddling from the cave of Benagil back to Carvalho beach where we started. (approximately 30-60 min)

He was incredibly knowledgeable about the nature and passionate about protecting it! He was very patient with us (meaning me mostly!) as we aren’t the most avid paddle boarders. He took great pictures for us along the way & even helped to give us a lift to a nearby cafe to get breakfast afterwards! The tour started from a small beach ( I highly recommend to book the 7:30am start when the beaches are still empty ) , we were greeted by our super fun and friendly guide Egas and after a short brief set off to explore coves and caves . This wasn’t one of those tourism by number guided tours . It was a very small group , we were provided with plenty of information about the geology of the area , the wildlife , the history and all this while Egas was also taking photos for us and kept sharing interesting information about the region. The tour only uses paddleboards to explore the caves , so this is the most eco friendly and least damaging way to explore this beautiful part of the coast . Where to start… This was from beginning to end one of the most wonderful experiences. As a first time paddle boarder the technical info given at the beginning of the tour was thorough and detailed. I was helped onto the board and guided on how to implement improvements in my technique as we went along. Egas, our guide for the morning was extremely knowledgeable and was sharing info from the history of the country, the caves itself, stages of erosion, he took us to see fossils, and he took LOADS of photos of us whilst on the water and inside the caves. There were only 4 of us in the group which made for a very personal and attentive tour. We absolutely loved it and would 1000% recommend if you are thinking of doing a tour to the Benagil caves. Initially we were tempted to take a boat tour, however the board is the only way to truly experience the beauty of the Benagil caves and surroundings. One last tip, if you don’t mind early mornings, 7:30am is the best time as there are less boats and kajaks in the water.All the guides were fun & caring creating a very enjoyable experience. They are locals with not only a passion for adventure but for preserving the natural coastline.
