Stop At: Malcesine, Malcesine, Province of Verona, Veneto

At 50 kilometers from Verona, at the foot of Monte Baldo, there is a city built around an ancient Scaligera fortress: Malcesine. An enchanting village overlooking Lake Garda, the northernmost of the Veronese side. With its small port, small squares and lively alleys, Malcesine has an irresistible charm, which captures you and never leaves you. From here you can take splendid walks and excursions in the hinterland, also thanks to the cable car that starts from via Navene Vecchia (not far from the Scaligero Castle) and goes up to Monte Baldo, called the “Botanical Garden of Europe” for its countless native plant species.

Stop At: Eremo dei Santi Benigno e Caro, Piazza Cavour, 37018, Malcesine Italy

The Hermitage of San Benigno and Caro is a place of worship located in the middle of the dense wood of Monte Baldo. It was built in the eighth century and became a famous destination for King Pepin, son of Charlemagne, who went to listen to the hermits Benigno and Caro. It was restored by the Municipality of Malcesine with the help of the State Agency for State Forests in 1969.

Shortly after the Hermitage, on a spur of rock, you will also find a beautiful wrought iron cross.

Great e-bike experience in the mountainside above Malcesine! This tour suits best the more experienced riders, with fun and challenging climbs, some flowy traverses and fairly steep downhills with lots of loose rocks. An alternative downhill is more intermediate/easy, but we had lots of fun doing...
