The Quarter Day Raft Trip is for those with time constraints or just aren’t sure if they or their children will enjoy rafting. You will! Family-friendly raft trips on the Animas River through downtown Durango will be the highlight of your family vacation. The pride of Mountain Waters Rafting is our staff. The trip specialists in the office, the guides on the river, and the drivers getting you safely there and back. These great folks shape the experience you have and we believe they are the very best! They will show you a great time on the water and inform you all about Durango and the surrounding area. Whether it’s the thrill of spring run-off or a lazy summer float, every member of the family will enjoy the scenic beauty of “El Rio de las Animas Perdidas, ” the “River of Lost Souls”.

Our guide was friendly and communicative, and it was a lot of fun. I would highly recommend it for anyone wanting to raft down the beautiful Animas River.

Great family fun! Our guide, Doug, was AMAZING!!! We went at the end of the season so the river was much calmer. I could see this being less thrilling for adrenaline junkies (my 7 year old seems to be one as he wanted Class III rapids the entire time), but my 5 year old preferred the smaller ones as did my 73 year old mother. Doug, our guide, was great. He was knowledgeable, funny, conversational and kind. In fact, I feel terrible because I don't think we tipped him enough because I had no idea how much we should so hopefully this review will get him some bonus points!!! He deserves them!!! Anyway, we definitely recommend the company and the trip, especially for a family outing with varied ages and abilities, but I feel confident that our guide would have kept us moving a long no matter the conditions. He had a boat of 5 people with limited physical help if we are being honest - three adults (an active 73, two 36 year olds in fairly good shape), a confident 7 year old and a 5 year old that didn't paddle; and Doug kept us moving along. They are pretty easy to spot, but they are located in the Alberton's parking lot if you are looking for them!We were disappointed that we didn’t get the trip we wanted due to water levels, but we still had a great time with our guide, Karen. She shared a lot of interesting information about the area, and gave us a fun trip on the river. It was also one of the better organized whitewater trips we’ve taken.

We would’ve loved some bigger rapids. They need to have an age limit. A very elderly gentleman on our boat fell out and could’ve been badly injured.
