Stop At: Place de la Bastille 75011, 75011 Paris France
You’ll start this tour on Place de la Bastille, the place where the former Bastille prison once stood and where the French Revolution started. Learn about that significant part of French history that still defines us.
Duration: 15 minutes
Stop At: Chez Paul, 13 Rue de Charonne, 75011 Paris, France
We will stop in this institution, Chez Paul a traditional bistro for one of the most iconic French specialities: snails! You will hear about the working-class history of bistros and how they are becoming trendy again.
Duration: 45 minutes
Stop At: Baron Rouge (Le), 1 rue Theophile Roussel, 75012 Paris France
From there, we’ll reach one of Paris’ most quintessential wine bars. At this friendly wine paradise, the bar serves locals and visitors with the same passion. You might still find old barrels where neighbours can just come and fill their empty bottles for a few euros. Here, you’ll learn about the long history of wine in France, while tasting some wine of course! We’ll also pair that wine with some of France’s best charcuterie: delicious pâtés, rillettes and smoked hams.
Duration: 45 minutes
Stop At: Marche d'Aligre, Place d'Aligre, 75011 Paris France
From here we’ll move to one of Paris’ oldest markets: Marché d’Aligre. Take a moment to wander on your own on this iconic bustling market full of delicious French products. We’llmeet at the cheese seller stall to grab our beautiful platter of French cheese. After a brief explanation about the different cheeses, we’ll head to a famous beer bar that serves over 300 different beers. You’ll get to try three different tasters from three very different kinds of beers produced in France, which we’ll pair with the cheese. Trust us, while wine and cheese gets all the credit, beer and cheese pairings are becoming more common. This is your chance to discover how well French cheese and Parisian craft beers go together!
Duration: 45 minutes
Stop At: 1 Coulee Verte Rene-Dumont Gare de Lyon - Bercy, 75012 Paris France
If you’re still in the mood, we’ll walk back to Bastille using a beautiful but completely unknown elevated former railway line that’s been turned into a park. The route offers great views over the neighbourhood. The tour will end back at Bastille Square, unless you prefer to keep partying in the buzzing Aligre area!

We had a spectacular time on this Parisian bistro tour with our group and our guide, Raphael. As other reviewers have mentioned, Raphael truly makes the tour special. It really did feel like hanging out with a friend who was taking you to his favorite local spots. The places we visited provided us with real and authentic experiences of Parisian culture. Raphael did a great job of enlightening us about the neighborhood we were in and the places we were visiting. There was more than enough wine, bread, beer, and cheese for everyone on our tour (the escargot was delicious!). This tour was the culinary highlight of our Paris trip. Do not hesitate to book this tour. It will be money well spent. Santé!We did the Marais tour a few years ago and loved it, so when we returned to Paris in June we booked onto this Beer vs Wine tour. We did the Marais tour a few years ago and loved it, so when we returned to Paris in June we booked onto this Beer vs Wine tour. It is brilliant. Our host, Raphael, was friendly, engaging, funny and really knew the area and its bars, restaurants and markets. He soon had us all out of our comfort zones eating snails and drinking wine straight from the barrel, before taking us to a bar where we just kept laughing and laughing... OK and drinking. What a fantastic way to spend an afternoon/evening in Paris. Thank you Raphael and also our fellow tourists from Wisconsin who were excellent fun as well.I had a wonderful yesterday touring markets, restaurants, wine bars and beer bars with Raphael. I had a wonderful yesterday touring markets, restaurants, wine bars and beer bars with Raphael. The drinks and food were world class, by far the best escargot I've had in France. The places we visited were authentic and not overrun with tourists and it was interesting to learn about a new Parisian neighborhood. Raphael is excellent host, making the group immediately feel welcome while also conversing about a range of topics (Art, history, literature, sociology, politics). I felt like I was catching up with a friend I hadn't seen in a few years rather than spending an afternoon with a guide. I recommend this tour if you're interested in eating excellent authentic food and tasting delicious wine and beer.Fun, fun, fun!
