Stop At: Dambulla Cave Temple, Jaffna Hwy, Habarana 50150 Sri Lanka
A sacred pilgrimage site for 22 centuries, this cave monastery, with its five sanctuaries, is the largest, best-preserved cave-temple complex in Sri Lanka. The Buddhist mural paintings (covering an area of 2, 100 m2 ) are of particular importance, as are the 157 statues.

Near to the main road through Matale, the Muthumariamman Hindu temple is a tall, exuberantly decorated structure that can be easily seen from afar. The prominent towers, called Gopurams, boast hundreds of detailed sculptures, in a rich mosaic of colour. These Gopurams structures can be seen in other Hindu temples across the island, as well as in Southern India.

We had a beautiful day with our driver Irfan from Aaliya tours. He took us through Kandy, afterwards we visited a hindu temple. Then we came to the impressive cave temple of Dambulla and finally went to the Sigiriya rock. Irfan told us a lot about the different locations and was always caring about us. All in all it was a really good day trip where we could see and learn a lot about Sri Lanka. You will also See a lot of monkeys and peacocks.One of the best tours to do if you are visiting Kandy.
