This experience was fantastic! Somsay takes you to his house where he shares a lot of information about life in Laos and bamboo. A master weaver from the village joined us to show us (with little english, massive smiles and endless paitience) how to weave a coaster - after this experience you will have an incredible appreciation for all the bamboo weaved items you see. The ad description doesnt do the cooking part of the day justice - we had an incredible meal with each course including bamboo of some sort, but each delicious in their own right (the fried bamboo shoots stuffed with pork were a winner in our group). The day rounded out with a local musician playing a local instrument. All in all, an incredible experience that taught us a lot about Laos in a really authentic way!

Kids friendly activity in Luang Prabang! Highly recommendable. Incredible and authentic moment. We sincerely enjoyed every minute of The Bamboo Experience - bamboo weaving and Cooking class. Somsay and his family and neighbours are incredibly nice, shiny, patient and passionate. They hosted us, and made us play, cook, weave, eat bamboo. Everything in their house is in bamboo, they explained to us all the uses they make of the bamboo and the importance of this plant in the daily life of asian people. They are very skilly and were so nice with our 2 kids. We are so grateful for this day. We will remember this activity for ever. It is really worth it.The day started at 8AM and we got picked up at the hotel and we got dropped off at the hotel at about 2PM. The people working there were so kind and gunny! The day started at 8AM and we got picked up at the hotel and we got dropped off at the hotel at about 2PM. The people working there were so kind and gunny! We could joke around together the whole day! We learned a lot about the Bamboo tools that the locals are using and could weave our own coaster. Also the weaving-Master showed us how he can weave cute bamboo-animals. The day included also a cooking class where we used a lot of bamboo in every dish. We ate so much good food! In the end a local musician joined us and showed us some local dancing while he played an instrument made out of bamboo. We could try playing the instrument as well and got introduced to the bamboo dance. We had a great day and for me it was one of the best experiences I had while traveling! This was so good!!
