Artemis, the Greek goddess, daoghter of Zeus & Leto and twin of Apollo was the goddess of wild animals, the hunt and child birth. She was widely worshipped in the Greek wolrd but her most famous cult site was the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
The temple was destroyed on July 21 356 BC in an act of arson committed by Herostratus. According to the story that very same night, Alexander the Great was born. A noble Ephesian remarked that Artemis was too busy with Alexander's delivery to save her burning temple. Alexander later offered to pay for the Temple's rebuilding, but the Ephesians refused. Eventually, the temple was restored after Alexander's death in 323 BC. This reconstruction was itself destroyed during a raid by the Goths Then it was rebuilt but after thousands of years today not much left to see from the Artemision. Will pay a visit to imagine how magnificent the temple was once.

I went on multiple tours with Crowded House over the course of my vacation in Turkey. The company provides superior customer service and well organized tours. I liked the fact that we were in smaller groups which allowed the guides to be more attentive to individual needs throughout the day. The drivers were also very nice and skilled. I must say that they really have the logistics figured out. We were moving throughout Turkey from city to city, with each Crowded House affiliate working with each other to make smooth handoffs. The tour to Pamukkale and the Hierapolis was ok. The waters at the natural pools were not running that day and the Cleopatra pool was a bit crowded. Note there is an extra fee to get in the Cleopatra pool and also for the lockers to store your clothes. The view from the theater above the pools is not to be missed. There is also an option to go paragliding over the area. We stopped at the ‘Onyx workshop’ during this tour. It’s really not a workshop but a shopping opportunity. Lunch was buffet style. The food is just ok. Gilda was our guide. She was very nice. Her voice is not very loud. I think she would have benefited from a microphone and speaker while communicating information on the bus. I really enjoyed the tour of Ephesus and Mary’s Church with Josh. He did an excellent job of providing the history of each historical gem. I appreciated how he planned our stopping points so that we avoided the crowds and stayed in the shade. Ephesus is absolutely amazing! As a part of this tour, we also stopped at the leather workshop. Again, this was not a workshop. There was a short video about the company and a mini fashion show that was really fun. Afterwards, I bought an item which broke the next day. I contacted Crowded House about it, and they were able to put me in contact with the leather company which was more than happy to replace the item. We had another issue unrelated to our tour. Although it was not their concern, this company helped to get us in contact with the right people so that our issue could be resolved. I really appreciate how they were willing to go above and beyond. I highly recommend a tour with Crowded House.
