We went on the half-day customs and culture bike tour with our wonderful guide, Mony. We had so many experiences and opportunities that could not have happened on our own. First of all, the bikes were terrific and felt completely safe. Mony led us perfectly so it was an easy and fun ride. Second, he shared so much about current and historical Cambodian life in an engaging and fascinating way. We had the chance to enter villages and connect with people, using Mony's sensitive guidance on language and customs. We had an incredible conversation (translated by Mony) with a woman who has spent her whole life in the village. We were interested in her and she enjoyed hearing about the cold weather in Chicago. We learned about and tasted new local foods and saw the countryside in an up-close way. There is just nothing like being on a bike, being in a village, and being guided and having translation to allow meaningful conversation. This is a lot more than a bike ride! Soksabike puts heart into their tours and cares deeply about connections with people and communities. Don't skip this!!! It's worth every sweaty minute! We did the half day Customs and Culture bike tour with our wonderful guide Mony. We did the half day Customs and Culture bike tour with our wonderful guide Mony. My partner is not an experienced cyclist so was a bit nervous about cycling on Cambodian roads but she needn't have worried as Mony was very attentive and made sure we were safe. We were provided with good bikes, helmets and water. It was wonderful to experience the countryside by bike. Mony was a very warm, friendly and knowledgeable guide with very good English, providing interesting information about Cambodia's history, politics, religion and culture. We stopped at a few places in Battambang before cycling into the nearby countryside. We visited families to learn about their different trades; water jar production, fishing net repairing, fish selling. Mony was very respectful and the families were all compensated for their time. We were taken to visit a Muslim community. It was interesting to learn about how different cultures and religions are accepted and embraced in Cambodia. Our final stop before lunch was a visit with a monk. We were told it was a no holds barred opportunity to ask a monk anything we wished. Our monk was very friendly and open and we certainly came away enlightened 😁 We would thoroughly recommend this tour. Our guide Mony was excellent and this tour was one of the highlights of our trip.My wife and I absolutely loved our tour with Soksabike. My wife and I absolutely loved our tour with Soksabike. Phalla was the most wonderful tour guide, showing us around the villages on the other side of the river, and telling us stories about the history of the area and more. He was so friendly and easy to talk to. The tour was well-planned; we met three local families, and had a drink at a local cafe. Then we took a long (although circuitous) journey to a temple a short distance away and learned about monkhood and Buddhism in Cambodia. Last but not least, a delicious lunch and delightful conversation to end our tour and our time in Battambang.Mony was a great guide - very enthusiastic. He wants people to experience his culture, and takes great pride in his country. His English was great - no trouble with communication. Mony was a great guide - very enthusiastic. He wants people to experience his culture, and takes great pride in his country. His English was great - no trouble with communication. He is extremely knowledgeable, and points out interesting facts throughout the tour. We had an easy bike ride through the outskirts of Battambang. Easily handled by almost all fitness levels - there were literally NO hills. It was also mostly shaded, so could be done even on hotter days. We stopped at the houses of local families, who showed us their businesses (run out of the house). One family processed bananas, another rice paper, and one family made 'sticky rice' in bamboo. We stopped at the local fish market, and a nice quiet spot for lunch. We enjoyed trying and/or helping to make the products, and learn about the local culture. We also stopped at a 'rice wine' (actually a distillery) spot, and had a shot complete with Cobras in the bottle - similar to the worm in a Tequila bottle. This was a great tour. Highly recommend it - wonderful way to experience Cambodian culture.
