We are a family of 4 with 2 older children (ages 19 and 21) and did a four hour private tour of the island with Ana who was fantastic. She picked us up at our hotel timely at 9am and we mapped out the day, which started with a tour of a tequila place (including a tasting) by 9:30am ("breakfast of champions!"). We also visited the other side of the island where we stopped to see some scenic views and tried the best mojitos we have ever had at The Liquor Box roadside restaurant and bar. During our tour, Ana gave us some ideas for other things to do on our vacation, including visiting the Cozumel Planetarium at night to look through the telescope to see the stars and planets. She also told us about how she volunteers with the Department of Ecology to go to the beaches during the middle of the night with the biologists to help mark and track where the endangered green and loggerhead sea turtle nests are to better protect them. We decided we wanted to help as well, so we volunteered the next night and it was a fantastic experience. This is the second time we did this tour. The first time was when we were on a cruise and only in Cozumel for a day. This time, we were in Cozumel for a week. If you are staying in Cozumel, I would recommend doing this earlier in your trip like we did to give you an idea of other things to do while on vacation. Whether you are visiting the island for a day or a week, I would definitely recommend this tour.Mario was awesome!!! He made everything fun. We had lunch at a family owned restaurant where we were able to see the kitchen and try local dishes. It was delicious!! We went to a park that offered tequila tasting. We really felt like we got a look into local life and culture. Definitely book with Mario!!!
