Corbara Lake and Titignano Castle
Overview
This is an oasis of greenery and unspoiled nature, where the Tiber opens up forming the Corbara lake. Getting around by bike is in perfect harmony with the environment, the vegetation has remained intact for centuries. The territory is covered by holm oak, oak and chestnut groves, another area is junipers that tangle with climbing plants, typical of the Mediterranean scrub.
In the hilly areas, vineyards and olive groves have typical vegetation: typical wines such as Trebbiano, Grechetto, Malvasia are excellences of the territory. Even hops, a plant now rare in other environments, testifies to the integrity of the area here.
The upstream part is rich in centuries-old woods, with a luxuriant and important flora.
On the hills there are wild boar, fallow deer and roe deer. Numerous species of birds nest along the shores of Lake Corbara and Alviano, including coots, kingfisher, peregrine falcon, gray heron and buzzard.

This was a wonderful day trip to the Titigano castle, with a stunning view onto the Corbara lake (and another viewpoint at La Roccaccia castle). Tour guide Riccardo and tour organizer Paolo were very helpful during the trip and put all the efforts to make it exciting. I was traveling alone, and Paolo had no problem with setting up a tour just for myself about 5 days before the trip. It is possible to take the tour while traveling from Rome to Florence by train. Note that there are some steep descents with a rocky surface on the way.elena67travel
