What a wonderful evening! We were warmly welcomed by Edison, Aaron, and Tiffany, introduced to the family pets, and taken on a tour of their garden and farm to start. We saw a sloth, toucans, the family chickens, and their bees. The garden has an incredible amount of herbs and veggies and fruits growing in it. I asked lots of questions and they were super nice about it. Getting to help with all the prep and to get the pointers of cooking was great for the rest of our trip (we were cooking for ourselves some). To close, Edison took us out to search for frogs which we didn’t get to see on the rest of our trip so it was awesome that he did that with us! This was a lovely experience and we highly recommended it! Thank you, Lidiana and your your beautiful family for being so warm and welcoming! We did a cooking class with 12 people (all our family) and everyone had a great time. We did a cooking class with 12 people (all our family) and everyone had a great time. This was the best food we ate anywhere. The class was very hands on - everyone was very involved in the entire cooking process. Before cooking, we had a tour of the farm and got to taste and see many different plants and herbs. The grounds were beautiful. They had a couple cute dogs and cats that came and went and even a resident sloth in their tree which was easier to see and watch than the sloth tours we did the day before! We needed a day meal instead of dinner and Lidiana worked with our schedule, which was very nice. This was one of my top favorite experiences of my 10 day stay in Costa Rica. This was one of my top favorite experiences of my 10 day stay in Costa Rica. We started with a tour of the family's extensive garden, with a beautiful vista of Arenal and the surrounding hills in the background. The family was super knowledgeable and taught us about most of the herbs, fruits, and vegetables in the garden, and even let us taste some of them and made us guess what they were. There is a sloth named Flash on their property, and we saw her enjoying a meal high up in her tree and also saw several aracara birds! Next, we donned our aprons and chefs hats and started to cook in their beautiful kitchen that's located on a large patio, outdoors but protected from the rain. We made a delicious meal of arroz con pollo, fried yuca, plantains, beans, and salad, with most of the ingredients fresh from their garden. My favorite meal I've had in Costa Rica!! We finished with a dessert of pineapple caramelized in freshly shaved cane sugar, and herbal tea with plants from their garden. Finally, we ended the evening with a night tour of their yard, where we saw several red eyed tree frogs, toads, and even frog eggs and tadpoles. We had such a wonderful time with everyone! The family answered all our questions and was so fun to hang around for a wonderful evening of everything Costa Rica has to offer. Do yourself a favor and book this for an unforgettable experience!!This was one of the highlights of our trip to Costa Rica. This was one of the highlights of our trip to Costa Rica. Lidiana and her family made us feel like family from the second we got there. The garden and the grounds were breath taking and the food we made was truly spectacular. We had such good conversations and a really wonderful time. After our meal they even took us around and showed us there pond where we saw tree frogs which we had been drying to see our whole trip! I cannot recommend this enough and I would do it again in a heartbeat! We stayed at this family's home and opted for the cooking class. What a treat! We stayed at this family's home and opted for the cooking class. What a treat! We have 3 boys: 16, 14 and 10 ... the 16YO picked a "special" Costa Rican meal ... chicken with rice, beans and veggies, a salad, fried plantains and dessert. As a family, we prepared the meal ... with guidance from Lidiana and Eddie. They taught us the history, how to prepare and cook the meal. They also gave us a tour of their farm. ...AND, we met "Flash" the resident sloth. We had an unspeakable experience ... I don't write a lot of reviews, but felt compelled to deliver an exceptional review for a memorable, exceptional experience. Don't just eat at the Soda (local) restaurants ... experience this for yourself. Many thanks Lidiana and Eddie! We loved your home, stories and meal.Wonderful experience! We highly recommend this cooking class with our new friends! We learned a lot about the plants and had fun cooking and eating the delicious food. The property is beautiful and well maintained.
