Stop At: Narodni trg u Zadru, Main Square, Zadar 23000 Croatia
You'll walk the main street of Zadar, Kalelarga, which was badly destroyed in the WW2, as well as the People's Square, the center of social life with fascist architecture
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: Zadar Land City Gates, Ul. Ante Kuzmanica incrocio Obala Petra Krešimira IV e Ul. Ante Kuzmanića, Zadar 23000 Croatia
Visit Zadar's walls and have a great view of the former Nazi military harbor that will help picturing life in Zadar during the WW2.
At Teatro Verdi sight find out the renovation in communist Yugoslavia under Tito proved to be problematic
Orhodox Church is another place where you'll learn the history of conflicts between Croatia and Serbia to have a better understanding of the whole region.
At the end visit the WW2 bunker and find out about the Croatian Homeland War in the short multimedial presentation

Having travelled through and done the best rated walking tours in Split and Dubrovnik, I have to say that this tour was by FAR the best one I've experienced. Much props to our guide, Iva, for her deep knowledge of the city's history, clarity of language, and great sense of humor. Rare to find a tour where the atmosphere does not feel so rigid and much of it is because Iva was just so easy going! Love it. The tour itself is over 2 hours, depending on how many fun questions we can all come up with :) and it's done with visual aid that helps people relate to the era being discussed. Lots of information and yet served in an easily digested method even for someone with a short attention span like myself. Some people might say "Pssh... walking tour? City history? I can just read all that on wikipedia!". Well, maybe, but you can also just look at pictures of Zadar from home and not bother traveling here. Walking around the various sites and learning what actually happened there during the war is super cool! If you are a curious traveler that enjoys some history, book this tour. You won't regret it. Thanks again Iva! (yes, I am still getting lost in the city 😂)RomainJandet
