Overview
Our treks operate with qualified guides who have a minimum of 8 years of experience on the mountain. They are also certified for Wilderness first responder. They posses great knowledge about the mountain, fauna, flora and also about the health of the climber. We always make sure our climbers are healthy throughout the trek by having daily health checks, providing fresh nutritious meals and also special guidance by the guide is provided to ensure the climber reaches the top of Kilimanjaro successfully. All our climbs are equiped with emergency oxygen cylinder.

What to expect
Itinerary
Machame 7 days has a great success rate and is really attractive the Machame route is undoubtedly the busiest on the mountain. Over 7 days, you have a fantastic journey and a great chance of summiting successfully.
The climb begins at Machame Gate, at an altitude of 1800 metres, with an approach to the south west of the mountain. It passes through majestic rainforest on the first day, before continuing up the mountain to reach Shira Camp, where the Lemosho route joins from the west. From here you traverse the southern side of the mountain to Barranco via Lava Tower, and climb the Great Barranco Wall on your way to Barafu Camp. After reaching the summit, you will descend by the Mweka trail, rather than retracing your steps along the ascent route.
The Machame route is nicknamed the ‘Whiskey Route’ as it is considered more difficult than the ‘Coca Cola Route’, the nickname for the Marangu route. In reality, it is not more technically difficult, but is longer and in places steeper. The longer distance and the opportunity to ‘walk high, sleep low’ offer much better acclimatisation and as a result a very high success rate.

My experience with zafs was amazing. Their professionalism, organization and management is 10/10. The climbing groups are small for individualized attention and they have chosen guides who are compassionate and entertaining. Their chef zakaria always provides hot nutritious and delicious meals in the middle of the mountain which we were so grateful for. I would recommend their equipment rentals also, they are good quality (alot of the brands we are familiar with in the west) and they do have quite a vast variety of choices to help you find what you are looking for.hnoor321

I booked the Marangu route to climb Mont Kilimanjaro with ZAFS Tours. I felt confident when I discussed with Huzeifa as he was reassuring and optimistic about reaching the peak even if it’s the route that has the lowest success rate. I would like to thank all the team for their constant efforts and such good videos to support us all along the way. Safety is the top one priority and the guides Will always prioritise your safety over the climb, therefore I felt in good hands and motivated to do my best to reach Uhuru peak. A special thank you the cooker and his assistant for feeding us with such a good food. I regret not asking the recipe of the soup, you should really try it!! Not to mention the hard work of the porters, those guys are the real warriors. They carried our bags and stuff all the way and they were walking faster than us, can you believe it ? I wish I had known better the African culture through songs, dances and stories to feel the African vibes. And last but not least, I would have loved to feel more included with the trackers, indeed as they were all nationals they often spoke the swahili, therefore I sometimes felt excluded as I couldn’t understand what they were saying. I was very comfortable working with Zafs. As a woman, I felt extremely safe and well protected as they hand held me every step of the way, right from before I got there, while I was up the mountain and when I finished the trek. Huzeifa and his brother are genuine and so warm that they go out of the way to make you comfortable. The planning was immaculate - Right from the gear, to the food and your comfort on and off the mountain, they would always go the extra mile.I was very fortunate to get an outstanding guide Trevor Masai, who navigated me through the trek and by the end of which became a dear friend. The team of porters, cook and the staff they send you with is really fantastic. I got better food on the mountains , than when I was down down the mountain, in my 3 weeks stay in Tanzania. That speaks volumes of the chef and the care he took to make sure I was fuelled ( in my tummy and spirit). A simply fantastic experience from many perspective. A brilliant Crew of Guides, porters and chef. We hiked Kilimanjaro Mountain with my daughters via Marangu route for seven days, we have seen almost everything with a very professional local Guide, Good Accommodation at and enough time to see what we want.
