I reserved a Smart ForTwo automatic transmission vehicle through YouDoItaly in late June 2023 for pickup at Verona airport on July 5th, 2:00 p.m. The rental company was ITALY CAR RENT A CAR. I arrived about 2:30 at the ITALY CAR RENT A CAR kiosk near the arrival terminal and was told by a representative behind the counter, that my rental was not available as it had been involved in a collision and was under repair. The representative added that there were no available automatic transmission vehicles and offered me a manual transmission vehicle. I informed her that I am unable to drive a manual transmission and stated quite bluntly that I specifically reserved an automatic. She again offered a manual vehicle, and I again informed her that I have never driven manual. When I asked for a supervisor, I was told that there was none. I asked her to find another option and she stated that there were no other options. After some further discussion, the representative told me she would no longer pursue the discussion or offer further assistance, and insisted I contact DoYouItaly. I again asked for a supervisor, but she insisted there was no supervisor available. I informed her the problem was with ITALY CAR RENT A CAR, not with DoYouItaly. I added that ITALY CAR RENT A CAR had my telephone number and could have telephoned me and told me of the issue instead of having me take a train and bus to the Verona airport only to be told there were no automatic transmission vehicles available! She became progressively ruder during the discussion and basically shut me down. I informed her that I would write a review about the company plus her utterly unprofessional attitude and behaviour. How is it possible that a car rental company has no automatic transmission vehicles available is beyond me and that a no solution could be provided? NOT POSSIBLE. I am certain that I was lied to. DO NOT RENT FROM - ITALY CAR RENT A CAR.
