Carcassonne: 2-Hour Private Walking Tour
Overview
The city fortress was consecrated in 1997 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Take a 2-hour private walking tour, personalized to your own schedule and rhythm, visiting the sights you would like. Explore medieval architecture and discover the rich culture that has inspired poets and writers, including William Faulkner.
The city is divided into 2 parts; the town and the famous Cité de Carcassonne. Typically we pay more attention to the Cité, but if you would like to visit the town the tour can be customized to suit.
Discover the exterior of the castle and ramparts at the heart of the medieval city; explore the Cathedral and the Basilica of Saint Nazaire (no entrance); and admire la porte Narbonnaise, which was the principal entrance to the Cité.
A dream like destination with a romantic ambience, the tour is tailor-made to enchant you.

Jaqueline did a wonderful job of telling the story of Carcassone cite, making it humorous and exciting for our kids. She is unique and fun and I would recommend her for this tour! There were a couple of issues, however- on the Viator end of things. First of all, the directions and address for our meeting spot were not correct or clear. This made us over 30 min late and had to pay for a taxi. Also, I learned that Jaqueline only gets paid $150 for the tour, while we paid $400!. Shame on you Viator, for not passing the profits on to those doing the work. We won’t book with Viator again.Gwendoline was very knowledgeable and brought a lot of personality to the tour. She did a great job of engaging my three daughters (14, 12 and 10). I highly recommend!
