Being of slighter more mature years and not having ridden a bike for ages I was a little nervous about being fit enough for the challenge. But I was assured it was easy cycling on flat trails with plenty of time to stop for wine tastings and relaxing en route. Bruce picked us up from our hotel, collected some other people and took us to the first winery where we were given our bikes, maps, and all instructions. We set off along beautiful bike trails through vineyards and then along the coast. It was a perfect day, sunshine and blue skies, and the cycling was easy. We covered about 16 kms and were collected, as arranged at 4 pm at the final winery. We hardly saw anyone on the trail, but kept meeting up with our group at the various tastings and they were all great fun. I can recommend this tour to anyone,My daughter and I did the 3 day highlights tour over Auckland anniversary weekend 2018.Wow, did we have a blast. From our first email to Jenny, everything was organised so efficiently. My daughter and I did the 3 day highlights tour over Auckland anniversary weekend 2018.Wow, did we have a blast. From our first email to Jenny, everything was organised so efficiently. The ride itself was very easy flat riding, easily to do the approx 50kms in a day. The bikes were very comfortable and the accomodation was also very good. I highly recommend this ride and booking through Takaro trails means a lot less for you to worry about. My Daughter and I survived the trip with no arguing too😀Jenny & Bruce were fantastic - great itinerary & bike set up. We stayed the night at the beautiful St Andrews Escape, Havelock North - loved it. Akarangi, Elephant Hill, Church Road & Mission Winery's were all fantastic.

Highly recommend the Cape Winery Cycle Tour. Our group of 4 (x2 couples) absolutely loved the experience. This was hands down the highlight of our 3 day getaway in the Hawkes Bay. Kudos to Tony who was such an awesome host. Your recommendations and history about landmarks and key natural features was appreciated. We also appreciated your low key, friendly and funny vibe. The time went by so quick we had so much fun. We opted for the electric bikes. All first timers on these and they were amazing!!! So much fun cycling between the wineries and soaking up the beautiful scenery of the sunny hawkesbay. We took a beach dip (aaaamazing) before heading to Te Awanga Estate for the best meal to end our spectacular self guided tour. We enjoyed the delicious pizza and platters on the lawn. If you are keen on particular wineries listed on the self guided tour we would recommend that you actually look to see if they are open. 2 of the 6 wineries were not open on the day we went but this didn't effect our experience because it went so fast!!! We enjoyed the 4 we visited. Thank you to Karen aswell who was so efficient with her comms when we enquired and booked. Look forward to returning to complete the Napier tour. Thank you Tony & Karen :)To celebrate our graduation a group of us headed to sunny Hawkes Bay and hired bikes to safely travel between the wineries. To celebrate our graduation a group of us headed to sunny Hawkes Bay and hired bikes to safely travel between the wineries. Not only were these electric bikes way faster than your standard bike, they were just as easy to ride and made for the perfect amount of exercise and fresh air between glasses. Most of our self-tour we were off road on purpose built bike trails that took us to beautiful places we would not have experienced otherwise. These bikes conveniently came with carry bags for up to three bottles of wine to take your favorites home with you. I cannot recommend this experience enough it would be incredible with family, friends or even a cheeky staff function.
