Our 4-island tour of Santiago, Fogo, Sao Vicente, Santo Antao was arranged by BU Country Tours, and we were extremely pleased with how well everything went. Admilson Garcia of BU worked with us to arrange everything, including flights, ferries, hotels, and covid testing. The extra service was valuable, as we were unable to book flights online ourselves due to the domestic airline ceasing operations. BestFly (Angola) is now the only airline operating between islands and at the time of travel they did not have an online booking platform. Admilson is an incredibly upbeat, enthusiastic guide and was always on time and available even after dropping us off after our daily excursions. He is a great ambassador for Cabo Verde! On Santiago we stayed at Hotel Perola, conveniently located near the plateau area of Praia which has great restaurants. On Sao Vicente we stayed at Solar Windelo Hotel in Mindelo, with great city views. If you don't mind the stairs, an upper room is best. A short ferry ride away is Santo Antao Island where we did an incredible hike which began in the Cova crater. The views were breathtaking. Thanks BU Country Tours/Admilson Garcia for a wonderful time and for all your work putting together a great itinerary to meet our needs! I'll be seeing you again when I pass through Cabo Verde in April 2022...It’s very rare that my expectations are exceeded, but in this case it’s no exaggeration to say that the BU Country team in Cabo Verde have way exceeded my expectations. It’s very rare that my expectations are exceeded, but in this case it’s no exaggeration to say that the BU Country team in Cabo Verde have way exceeded my expectations. My first experience with them was in April 2022 for my first trip to Cabo Verde and they were so spectacular that it encouraged me to take a second trip to Cabo Verde this past August and September. The first trip they organized for me was done within very short timeframes . I made up my mind at the last minute that I was going to go to Cabo Verde! I wanted to do all the things that CV is famous for: beaches , sea life, hiking volcanos, live music, history, culture etc. All within a 10 day period!!! They quickly came up with a plan for me and arranged for everything: my tickets for the planes and for the ferries, the pickups at each location , the individual guides, etc… They told me of the best places to stay in Cabo Verde and it was all done very quickly , efficiently, very cost-effectively. But that’s not the best part . It’s when things go wrong that you get a true measure of people’s capacities. Near the end of my trip, my ferry to Fogo was canceled at the last minute and I was stranded at the port in Praia. I let the BU team know and my guide Alfonso came to pick me up at the port and the team arranged for an overnight hotel stay and dealt with getting new tickets for my next day’s trip to Fogo and worked out all the other details. They took care of everything and I didn’t have to worry very much about anything at that point. The next day another tour was arranged for me to Cidade Velhe because Alfonso could tell that this was something I would enjoy. As a Haitian descendant of Africans from this part of the world, it was especially meaningful. The owner of BU Country, Admilson is really hands-on, warm , knowledgeable and personable. All that made it really easy to choose to go back to Cabo Verde again for my summer vacation and it was spectacular. Once again I worked with the BU country team to arrange for flights and ferries . And this time when my flight to Fogo was cancelled at the last minute, Admilson got on the phone with me right away, told me about my options , booked me on the next ferry that was going to Praia and then the next one headed to Fogo. There was a bit of drama as I missed the connection to Fogo and Admilson himself came to pick me up at the Praia port at two in the morning and made sure that I was well taken care of. It was really just amazing. I would definitely not travel to Cabo Verde without having the BU country team on my side!!!
