I would definitely recommend a visit. There is a café in the museum as well if anybody wants a sip of tea or a snack.

This was my second time at the museum. It is one of my favourites. It is so well-curated. A must see in Ottawa. There was a temporary exhibit about Canadians in WWII which was very good except for one thing. They provide QR codes so that you can read letters and diaries on display BUT....there is no wifi. Zero service....so what is the point of adding QR codes if you can't use them? That was a big disappointment since it is quite difficult to read the hand-written pieces either because of poor lighting or poor penmanship. Boasting wifi reception with routers is a simple solution. With all due respect to that venerable institution, this knocks the Imperial War Museum in London into a cocked hat. With all due respect to that venerable institution, this knocks the Imperial War Museum in London into a cocked hat. Just when you think you're finished learning the fascinating history of Canada's nationhood through the prism of military conflict (which for good or ill, has shaped it to a telling extent), you walk down a ramp past some of the most impressive - not to mention largest - war paintings ever to a hall containing two dozen tanks and a McDonnell CF-101 Voodoo. We spent four hours here and I gladly would/could have spent longer. Highly recommended whether you're a visitor to Ottawa or a native. One of our favourite museums to share with visitors from out of town. One of our favourite museums to share with visitors from out of town. It’s a creative piece of architecture with lots of subtle details and lots to see. Make sure you have a couple of hours to explore all that’s on display. It’s worth talking to the staff as they can share all kinds of additional information about both the building and the various exhibits.
