Some other tours offer a picnic, which I wish we've had. We did have a empanada and some very good wine, but for sure it would've been better to experience it by the lake. We got early to the stops, so we pretty much got the place to ourselves, which was excellent The tour is quite expensive, but the place is worth itWe were fortunate to catch one of the last trips of the season to Cajon del Maipo. Awesome is the best word to describe this trip with our amazing guide, Gabriel!!! He is so knowledgeable and told us story after wonderful story about Chilean history and this absolutely stunning part of the Andes Mountains. He expertly maneuvered the very sheer and winding roads; we felt 100% safe at all times. This is one of the most beautiful mountain regions, with clear turquoise water and amazing scenery. It was obvious that Gabriel has great relationships with all of the vendors we came into contact with along the way. We stopped at a most charming roadside restaurant for empanadas and wine, and topped off the trip with delicious ice cream at the chocolate house. Gabriel accommodated all of our requests and then some. We highly, highly recommend this trip and our most gracious guide, Gabriel!!!
