Cairo to Abu Simbel tour is a travel package to visit the attractions of Cairo and Giza before traveling to Luxor and Aswan and at the end visit Abu Simbel temples. You’ll begin your journey in Cairo, where you’ll encounter the magnificent Pyramids of Giza – the last remaining of the original seven wonders of the ancient world. From Cairo, you’ll venture onward via sleeper train, traversing a sea of sand overnight as you head south. You’ll spend several days exploring ancient ruins and temples in Luxor, Aswan, and Abu Simbel before you return to Cairo to visit important Islamic and Christian historical sites.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Cairo - Welcome to land of Pharaohs

Welcome to Cairo, Egypt (Around the Clock).
Your tour manager will meet and assist you at Cairo International Airport and provide you with an entry visa for Egypt and then he will escort you to your hotel by exclusive air-conditioned deluxe vehicle. At the hotel, the tour manager will assist you to have a smooth check-in and review your holiday itinerary with you to establish and confirm pick-up times for each tour

Day 2: Pyramids Tour / Train to Luxor

Even if you are not looking to buy, taking a walk through the winding alleys of this labyrinthine district, you are sure to find something that will catch your eye.

Day 3: Luxor Sightseeing

Stop At: Valley of the Kings, Luxor City, Luxor 85511 Egypt
At first glance, the Valley of the Kings, also known as the Valley of the Gates of the Kings, seems like no more than a sun-blasted gorge of generic red rock, but underneath all of its dust lay the tombs of 63 of the most important pharaohs in the history of Ancient Egypt. Used as a burial chamber for nearly 500 years from the 16th to 11th century BC, Discovered by Howards Carter in an excavation expedition in 1922, one of the most important tombs found in the Valley of the Kings is the tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamun and all of his treasures.The Valley of the Kings is located on the west bank of the Nile River near Luxor. It is the most famous site for having unique collections of tombs and breathtaking ancient ruins.

In terms of visual impact from afar, there is no rival to Hatshepsut’s Temples. The unique multi-tiered structure nestled up against the limestone cliffs at the shoulder of the river valley is a truly stunning sight. The uniqueness of its layout mirrors that of the pharaoh responsible for building it.
Hatshepsut was the only female pharaoh in the history of Ancient Egypt. She came to power during the New Kingdom after the death of her father, Tuthmose I, and her half-brother and husband, Tuthmose II, who succeeded her father on the throne.

Stop At: Colossi of Memnon, Thebes, Luxor Egypt
One of the biggest tourist attractions in Luxor, the Colossi of Memnon gained its popularity due to its majestic appearance and for the mysterious sounds emitted by the northern colossus statue at every sunrise. In the West Bank of Luxor Egypt, two magnificent twin statues image of pharaoh Amenhotep III and two smaller statues carved by his feet (one being his wife and the other his mother), stands graciously in the horizon of the magnificent Luxor horizons.
The two statues, each measuring 60 feet tall, stands in the entrance of Amenhotep III’s mortuary temple. They are famously named by the name of Colossi of Memnon due to a phenomenon produced by one of the statues after an earthquake.

Stop At: Temple of Karnak, Karnak, Luxor Egypt
When visiting Karnak, you are paying a visit to the heart of Egypt during the New Kingdom. This huge temple complex was the center of the ancient faith while power was concentrated at Thebes (modern day Luxor) and its significance is reflected in its enormous size. In addition to its religious significance, it also served as a treasury, administrative center, and palace for the New Kingdom pharaohs. It is considered as the largest temple complex ever constructed anywhere in the world.
It developed over a period of 1500 years, added to by generation after generation of pharaohs and resulting in a collection of temples, sanctuaries, pylons, and other decorations that is unparalleled throughout Egypt.

Stop At: Luxor Temple, Luxor 23512 Egypt
This temple might be the greatest testament to why Luxor has earned its nickname, “The World’s Largest Outdoor Museum”. Luxor Temple is located in the modern city of Luxor, which is built on the site of the ancient Egyptian capital of Thebes.
The temple is one of the best preserved of all of the ancient monuments with large amounts of structure, statuary and relief carvings still intact, making it one of the most impressive visits in the Luxor area and all of Egypt, adding significantly to its allure is the juxtaposition that its setting provides. The modern city begins on one side and the Nile drifts by on the other. There are few places in Egypt where one is put so immediately and clearly in touch with the extraordinary length of Egypt’s history.

Day 4: Luxor / Aswan Sightseeing

Stop At: Aswan High Dam, Manteqet As Sad Al Aali, Aswan Egypt
When construction began on the High Dam in 1960, it was the most heralded part of President Gamal Abdel Nasser’s effort to develop Egypt for all Egyptians. While the dam is certainly not the largest in the world, it is an impressive engineering feat nonetheless, over 360 feet tall and 12, 500 feet across.
The dam was completed in 1971 and the huge reservoir behind it, named for President Nasser, finished filling in 1979.

Stop At: Unfinished Obelisk, Sheyakhah Oula, Aswan Egypt
is a rare opportunity to consider what this process might have been like and just how difficult it was to shape and carve the great stone blocks that makeup Egypt’s many monuments.The construction began on the High Dam in 1960, it was the most heralded part of President Gamal Abdel Nasser’s effort to develop Egypt for all Egyptians.It was completed in 1971 and the huge reservoir behind it, named for President Nasser, finished filling in 1979.
It is an impressive sight and views south over Lake Nasser and north toward the old Aswan Dam are spectacular.

Stop At: Temple of Philae, Island of Agilika, Aswan Egypt
This beautiful temple complex is one of the most picturesque in all of Egypt. It sits on Aglika Island just south of the old Aswan Dam and you must ride a water taxi to the island to get to theruins. The temple was moved to its current location following the construction of the High Dam, which threatened to submerge it permanently.
The careful reconstruction at the current site carefully completed, painstakingly preserving the original appearance and layout of the complex and even landscaping the island to match its former location.

Stop At: Elephantine Island, Across the Nile from Aswan Two parts to this Island, Aswan Egypt
Measuring a total of 1200 meters from north to the south and 400 meters at its widest point, Elephantine Island and other neighbor Islands can be spotted from the west bank hillside along the Nile River and is located just downstream from the first cataract in the Nile, in the border between Upper Egypt and Lower Nubia. It is possible to reach Elephantine Island by ferry or on a felucca that can be rented from the banks of the river in Aswan.

Day 5: Abu Simbel Temple Group Tour / Train to Cairo

This site south of Aswan along Lake Nasser’s shore is the most famous in all of Egypt after the Giza Pyramids. Built by the greatest of the pharaohs, Ramesses II, these huge rock-cut temples marked the southern boundary of the Egyptian Empire with Nubia at the peak of its power during the New Kingdom. They were meant to convey the power of Egypt’s rulers to anyone who laid eyes upon them.

Day 6: Back to Cairo / Optional trip

Enjoy breakfast aboard the train before your arrival at the train station in Giza, where you’ll be greeted by a Memphis Tours representative, who will check you into your hotel in Cairo. You’ll have a day of leisure time, or enjoy an optional trip to visit the step pyramids of King Zoser in Sakkara and Memphis. Overnight stay at your hotel in Cairo.

Day 7: Optional trip to Alexandria

Enjoy a free day in Cairo, or take an optional trip to the glittering seaside city of Alexandria in the north, where you can see majestic Qaitbay Fort, built in by a powerful sultan in the 15th century on the site of Alexandria's ancient lighthouse, then move on to the new and much-acclaimed Library of Alexandria. You’ll also visit the Catacombs, a sunken Roman cemetery carved into the bedrock.
