By Land & By Sea - 7 Hanging Valleys Trail + 2 Hours Cruise
Overview
This scenic route is situated in Carvoeiro area and offers a string of notable stops at Benagil and Carvalho beaches, among others. The walk takes place along the top of coastal cliffs defined by deeply sculpted shapes and beautiful ocher and golden Cliffs.
The walk is led by an experienced guide. At the end of the walk you will have free time in Ferragudo to have a snack or just walk around.
Our next Experience is the visit to the beautiful grottoes of the Algarve in our comfortable boats! We depart from Portimão and cruise at ease towards Algar Seco and Benagil we will take you into different caves.

The first part of this experience was really enjoyable, I was the only English person in the group but it didn’t matter. Carlos was so attentive in making me feel included and part of the team. He translated everything during the walk aswell as all the banter being had. We then were split in to two groups for our tour of Ferragudo. I was asked to go with his partner which unfortunately made the rest of the trip really unenjoyable. There was real language barrier issues and because of this his attitude really was not pleasant. Not only that, we were told while waiting to be taken to Farragudo we were to wait for 5 more people to join us. The atmosphere shifted when they joined us as so much attention was on them for the rest of the day. The boat trip afterwards was at high speed which is fine if you’re wanting the fun of water sports but not when using it as a means to tour the island. I felt really uncomfortable the second part of the day but grateful for the morning experience. It’s tiring in the heat but so worth the views.Wow ! Wow ! Wow ! It was a great day and we really had a fun time learning and exploring the Algarve coastline ! The tour was very well organised with Hank ! The tour was well organised and Nelson was an excellent guide. The cliff walk was very scenic and relatively easy, yet you felt that you had got some good exercise. The 2 hour boat trip was exhilarating and in addition to visiting the stunning Bengali Cave, the guides took us to many other beautiful caves. On the way back to Portimão we were fortunate enough to see a large pod of dolphins. Thank you Portitours for a wonderful day in the Algarve. The actual tours were good and communication prior to the tours was very good. We booked the 4 hr Jeep tour which was good but not exactly as expected, when looking at the pictures. We learned a lot about the plants in the area, drove many dirt roads, splashed through one large puddle, but it wasn't the exciting off road experience I thought it was with an open roof top. It was more educational than adventurous; which could have just been my misunderstanding of the tour. Still we did enjoy it. We also signed up for Land & By Sea - 7 Hanging Valleys Trail + 2 Hours Cruise. Some changes needed to be made a few days before our tours and I found it nearly impossible to cancel a tour on Portitours website and reached out to the company via email for help. That started a complicated process of cancelling and rebooking and refunding, involving two tours and two companies ( Portitours works with Ophlia Tours for the boat trip). Helena was very good at getting all our trips lined up and paid for and communicating with me prior to our departure on the tours. Our land portion; hiking the 7 Hanging Valleys with guide Hank was delightful. This is a beautiful hike that could easily be done on your own because the trail is obvious, but we enjoyed Hank's explanations. For me, the Bengal Caves were more impressive from the 7 Hanging Valley trail then from the boat and the rough seas made for a rough ride. Our boat had to "rescue" a young woman trying to swim from the caves to the beach, but found the water too choppy. The onboard staff were excellent, making the most of the choppy water. Portitours has some good offerings and I loved that they picked us up at our cruise ship and were easy to communicate with. Overall recommended.Vasco was our excellent guide and he knows his languages. Funny and experienced. His knowlegde of the Algarve, the plants, the history, the economy and ofcourse the formation of the cliffs is outstanding. Vasco was our excellent guide and he knows his languages. Funny and experienced. His knowlegde of the Algarve, the plants, the history, the economy and ofcourse the formation of the cliffs is outstanding. He did everything he could to make us happy and that made eveything even better. The hike was stunning, the boattrip in a RIB boat was a bit rough because of high tide, but we never felt unsafe. Luckily we could enter the caves because sometimes it’s impossible. They even tried to find dolphins and succeeded. The food was more than just a snack and was also delicious and fresh.
